I was 18 when i had my first son & 38 when i had my second one. My first thought i was ancient & use to refer to back in the olden days when mom was young so i pretty much knew my younest was going to think i came over on the ark, lol. One night we were sitting on the couch & he says to me mom, what did y'all do during the civil war. I about cracked up but w/a straight face i said son, u aren't going to believe this i know but mom hadn't been born then. . do your kids think u are old & tell u about it??

Oh yes..they think I am but they are careful not to tel me that..LOL...when they want something, they tell me that I am pretty and my youngest even tried to pull the card...mom you look like you are in your teens. Thank you I say and then I let her know she's grounded for lying

My son trets me like there is nothing wrong with me and
ignores the fact I've had two heart attacks and still
thinks I can do all I used to do and I don't think he thinks
I'm old---but his kids do :)
They are now telling me I don't know things about todays kids cuz
I'm not with it-----which in my book I am not but guess that means old LOL

I had my youngest at 37 and my oldest at 32. So yeah, by the time the could ask questions, I was pretty old already. lol But I was tiny and always looked at least 10 years younger than I really was. This lasted right up until I turned 56, so nature has been good to me. But in 2007 when my oldest (aged 23) came home ill (I was 55) he gave me a big hug, and then leaned back, looked at me and said "You still look great mom, but you're beginning to SMELL old"! LOL

So you were so young when you had your first child! And your second came too long! Oh thanks dear for sharing us a bit of your life. I love hearing some trivia from friends!
And so your son was thinking you were that old! Ha!ha!ha! Well dear in reality it is not really the thought of you are old but rather the wrong notion that parents have experienced significant events in the past which they did not. Well of course it is another thing if at one time they look at our face and saw wrinkles and comment: "Mom you are getting old!"

I love it! That is the cutest thing omg, The Civil War! My daughters don't think I'm that old but they always say that I am old. I guess with my thinking and my ways concerning certain things. I have to tell my daughter this one. That is so funny.

I can't answer this from a parents point of view, since I don't have any children. I can however answer from the child's prospective. I am 25, and do not think my parents are old. They are cool, and down to earth.

I guess since I lived in a time when there were still a very few old women mostly who were alive during the civil war, I knew my parents weren't that old...
I don't have kinds so that's not a problem, but some co-workers have seen the roomie out with me and think I'm her mother!!! I'm only 7 yrs, less 9 days older than she is!

U are not that old, elic, lol. Peole say things that are crazy sometimes. I don't think they think before they speak. I had a guy ask me if i was my neighbor's mother back in the summer at the farmer's market.Think his wife got on to him, didn't matter to me. I am old but not quite old enough to be her mother, lol. Thanks for responding.

Hi lady, when I was very new to using the computer and surfing the net, my sons refused to teach me how to operate the computer and think that it is difficult to teach a rusty brain. I was at that time in my mid 40s. I have no choice but to secretly learned it from scratch standing behind them when they were on the computer. They didn't know that this mom of theirs has a large memory bank and tip top brain functions. Once or twice watching them while they were at the computer has given me valuable tips on how to handle the computer with ease.

HI ZANDI, T hanks for responding. I can relate, my youngest was still home when i got the first computer. He was the very same way. I never could figure out why he would not show me anything. My oldest was proud of me & he didn't know anything about a computer but think me know how gave him the incentive to learn. Happy tuesday. Guess we showed those knuckle heads.

This is so funny, LOL! My mother had me when she was 41 and she was a room mother when I was in the first grade. In fact, she was a room mother for several years. She was the oldest one of any of them and I remember asking her one time why she was the oldest. I don't remember what her reply was but she said it with a straight face, too, lol. She wasn't much of a cut up, anyway. She never did let her age bother her until she got in her 80s. It looks like there's quite a bit of age difference between your sons. There is 9 years difference between my sister who is next to me in age and me. There is also 13 years difference in my oldest sister and me and 18 years difference in my brother and me. Kathy.

People thought my parents were my grandparents years ago, lol. My brother has three sons and we all just about grew up together because they lived next door. A lot of people thought (and some still do think) that they are my brothers, lol! In fact, my oldest nephew, which is my brother's oldest son, is just 4 years younger than I am. You see, my brother got married the first time the year I was born. Kathy.

I am 58 years young and my son is 24. He brags to his mates that his Mum is the coolest, she's a goth and still goes clubbing. He's never thought of me as old, thank goodness.

Children have a sensitive mind as they keep on moving with only young people and also keep observing elders closely.
They prefer to have their parents young so that their friends feel happy. But do not understand that the age goes higher and higher which makes lot of changes in the body structure.
We have to face natures change -by which even though they have good age look much younger and smart.
