Hello everyone, Do you like to give a name to non-living objects? I do have names for my stuffed toys, but that was it. I encountered a friend who names her laptop, Max. My boyfriend also has a special name for his car called Charlie. Ho about you, do you have special names for your things?

This may sound creepy. Actually now that I think of it, it sounds creepy to me too.LOL. I have a netbook that I refer to as Mini. It is a HP Mini. Hence, the name. It's just easier to refer to it as that. So I would say, could you pass on Mini from my table, instead of saying could you pass the netbook. lol. But apart from that I have not named anything since I was a kid. :)

Hi cbeee, I don't think it's creepy at all. by the way, I also have an HP Mini netbook. I'm using it right now but I don't have a name for it, I can't think of anything witty. Mini is a cute name for a laptop, considering it's the actual name of the brand and suitable for it coz it's a "mini" laptop. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! What are the odds of you using the Mini too? Nice! Good thing that at least you don't find it strange. My sister keeps making fun of me. But I guess that is what sisters and brothers are meant to do. Have a great time!

I don't have a habit to name my things. However, last year, when I was on my way to school, I find some small toy robots lying on the ground. I picked them up, because they were looking really interesting and extraterrestrial. I named them Zorg, Korg, and Borg. These were nice toys for fooling about, I don't play with toys anymore, but it was still nice to have some fun with these.

As far as I am concerned, I seldom name the thing which a is non-living thing. But when the time, I get toghter with my girl friend, she will usually name the non-living things around us one by one. For example, the day ,we just bought a teddy bear. At the same time, she will come out a good idea to name him as Xiaotiantian, which is a Chinese name, means very lovly and clever.

Hi monkeylong, well, it's natural for us girls to name our stuffed toys especially teddy bears. I named my teddy bears "brownie" and "bernice" which is a common name for teddies. Xiaotiantian is definitely unique and catchy name, although a mouthful.

Some things have silly names just because it is fun. We have a copier at work we call Gus. Gus is very old and my coworkers were not very patient with it so it would go on the fritz often. But now that we have humanized it by giving it a name, they are somewhat more patient with it and we have not had nearly the problem with him making copies. I think that this is the reason why we give electonical items a human name. So that we will be more patient with them.

I agree that having silly names for things makes it more fun and help you to become patient with them. Gus is a catchy name for a copier, and it works well to your coworkers. nice idea! thanks for sharing.

I name some things, but not all. My boat's name is "Afternoon Delight" and my car's name is "burgandy b....". But that's about it...

i like your "afternoon delight" boat. It seems so calm and peaceful to ride that boat by its name. and for your car, burgandy, that's also a nice name. thanks for sharing!

Naming stuffed toys I think is normal, much like naming your pets since they do have faces and all. When I was a kid my stuffed toys have names. I used to name my old laptop Frankie at one point when I had to add bulldog clips on either side of the screen to keep it from blacking out. It was named after Frankenstein. =) Other than that, I only name gifts to and from my boyfriend which has faces. Just so that it's cuter to ask or talk about it. Like for example, "How are the piggies doing?" referring to the piggy bedroom slippers he gave me. Or "Is fishy full today?" referring to the fish coin purse I gave him, asking if he has many coins in it today. Other than those things with sentimental value, I name nothing else, not my phone or gadgets or my pillows.=)

most of the time,i didn’t give a name to non-living objects except the thing your favorite, just like my dog "gugu", he was so smart that i want to give a name to him, when i called his name, and he appeared immediately, i believe that the object is your favorite if you intitle it.
