Healthy Fast Food?

It seems that everywhere you look you're seeing fast food restaurants advertising healthy food or diet food in order to entice the already obese nation to keep eating their fast foods.
Are these "healthy" meals really healthy? Some food gurus claim thay're at least "healthier". Lets face it the only thing "healthy" about these items is that they contain fewer calories. While that in combination with a little more exercise may help you loose weight, are they really healthy?
To me a healthy food is food. If you read the ingredients for McDonalds chicken wrap, the soft taco they're wrapped in and the honey mustard sauce you'll find ingredients that you can't pronounce and extreme amounts of sugar and salt. Healthy food should be a nutrient dense food, not an "edible food like substance"
Fitness coach Tom Venuto's last newsletter addresses these "healthier" choices. If you're into improving your health through diet and exercise you can read his latest newsletter here. http://www.burnthefatblog.com/archives/2010/03/healthy_fast_food.php

What they so call healthy food, you do have to look at it careful. So of them said they are healthy but in fact they are the most unhealthy food of all. So sometimes it pays to ready the ingredient they use in your food. Fast food mostly deepfried are contains most fats in them. I tend to avoid them, but once in a blue moon is ok. Well we are in these commercial world, and sometimes we cannnot avoid not to have them, such as parties/functions that you are attending to. But we could do excerice afterwards. Dancing is the most weight loss excerise I have ever come across. Just dance any music you like for 30 mins and you will see the result.

I like dancing for exercise! However since my hip replacement surgery my feet don't move as well as they used to . Oh well you wouldn't think Tai Chi would use up many calories, but it does and it's something I can stand relatively still and do. Thanks for commenting

My favorite Healthy fast food is a Subway Sandwich. I like the buns toasted, and I've tried many different combinations of toppings. The meatballs are my least liked, probably because they are harder to keep in the bun, and the sauce is messy. Subway had a good sale on this winter in South Texas. It was, buy a 6" Sub for $5.00 and get another 6" Sub Free. When they ask what I want on it, I always say," Everything!" Then before they add the Jalapeno pepper they ask again. Yes I enjoy the Hot Pepper taste with my Subway too."Mmm, Mmm, Good!"

The only place that I really find to be healthy and is truely really healthy, is Subway. I have to agree with you on this one though, that fast foods try to keep their customer's coming into their restaurants by shoving healthy foods on the menu and claiming that they are healthy. Its true, that people should truely check to see what they eat before they put it into their mouth and think that its healthy. Because not every food that is claimed to be healthy is not exactly healthy. I don't care what fast food restaurant claims that they are healthy. Since I plan on eating healthy, I'm not going to be going to that fast food restaurant all the time. I don't remember the last time I've been to a fast food restaurant and the last one I remember going to was Subway. I think the healthiest food you can get besides subway, is just making your own meals. At least you know what is in it and it is saves you alot of money.

There are fast foods who offers vegetable salads in there menu list. It is very healthy because the vegetables are fresh and it doesnt contain preservatives. Maybe, not all fast foods offers unhealthy foods, but the menu that is usually ordered are the foods who doesnt have any nutrients at all.

While you are right about salads being healthy, I have to disagree with you about the fast food places having "fresh" salads. It is true that in high end restaurants salad is always fresh and fresh produce comes in daily, but in some fast food places the salad greens are soaked in some sort of chemical to keep them from turning brown and to keep them crisp.
I used to agree with you and get a salad at a certain fast food place, but then I learned about their ways of keeping produce fresh while buying it cheap and I began to think twice about even eating a salad there.
