Well over here in Spain if you buy a hamburger then you get a burger made from ham. They are very pink and look awful. My husband once had one and it made him ill the following day. i'm not joking when I say it looked raw. So now we only stick to beef or chicken burgers!

Hi, jahernandszrivas. Yes, that is a good thought! I wonder the same thing. I would like to know many answers to this myself. Burgers is not any type of ham but just beef only. Yes, I am wondering the same thing too. There has to be a great explanation for this. And I am interested in knowing what it is too.

Hamburgers supposedly were meat patties that originated in Hamburg, Germany, hence the name.

from what i have read, i learned that the origin of hamburger isn't very clear, but there were some stories dated 1800's where europeans reached america on the ship of hamburg lines were grilled meat patties placed between two pieces of bread were being served. maybe it's hamburger (hamburg person) and not ham burgers, not sure though.

When I was a kid I used to wonder why too. But I guess it goes back to history or where the patty originated.Like hotdogs. Hotdogs are not really made from dogs, but it originated from the shape of a breed of dog. I think its dachhshund. I am not really sure but its something like that.
