How do you get traffic to your website/blog

For all blog and website owners I thought it would be interesting to discuss the methods you use for getting traffic to your site and what effect it has.
So for me I run a movie review website and I have three main ways of generating traffic. The first way is that I am able to put links to my reviews on IMDB which helps massively seeing that it is the biggest movie site on the net. The second thing I do is leave a minimum of 2 blog comments everyday on other popular movie websites, sometimes as many as 5 but never more. Finally I also post an occasional article on article writing sites such as hubpages which helps generate a little traffic and helps provide back links.
What does that mean well currently I get around 200 page views a day which over the last few months has been creeping up nicely. If this increase continues through out the year I should be looking at 1000+ page views a day. But what is more important for me is most of the traffic stays on my site for a while rather than coming and clearing off without doing anything.
So what do you do to generate traffic, do any on you actually pay to advertise on other sites, maybe you guest post on other blogs or some other clever way and does this all help with generating sustainable traffic?

Hi there, I'm also using SEO, even if I'm not really good with it, but it works. I'm also submitting my site to several search engines using 3 free submitters, from which, the best for me seems to be Jayde(not a ref link: http://www.jayde.com). On the other side, I'm still using Traffic Exchanges(2 or 3 sites) but not for the traffic they bring to my site and more for promoting my referral links.

It may take a while for your seo to actually prove itself. But, it does...hang in there

I am always reading about it. As things change and you need to be up to date in order to keep your website listed well in the search engines.

i've found trading links with people has worked better for me than posting them anywhere.word of mouth has done more for me than any kind of hub.
