Hi myLotters, I work at an airline company and i understand that airlines work 24/7 non-stop. and i am one of the guys who works during night shifts. i had to admit that i'm already used to sleeping during the day and working during the dark hours. but isn't it HARDER to work during these hours? are you more prone to errors and mistakes when you work night shift? even if you sleep 6-8 hours during the day, does it still seem not enough because you still get sleepy during the night? I would greatly appreciate your comments especially if you also work on night shifts. Thanks!

i also work in night shifts for almost 3 years now, but i can't say i am used in working at night, as you have said, i always feel sleepy even I am able to sleep for 7 hours during the day. but sometimes its hard to sleep during the day because of the noise and the heat. But i do agree that its more peaceful to work at night and also you earn a little more compared to those who work during the day.

i agree with you. the noise and the heat really causes our system to stay awake plus the sunlight. i always felt like crying when i can't get myself to fall asleep when i should be. the extra compensation when working on night shift is the only advantage, though for me, still not enough. we have our health on the line here. thanks for your response midnightbliss!

I feel more comfortable during night work. I mean we can work without any disturbances in night. The one mistake that most of the people who work on night shift makes is they dont sleep properly in day. We must have a good sleep in day to work without sleepy in the night.

hi aeroomkar, i agree with you that during night shift we often don't have any disturbances. we can work alone and do our jobs at our own pace without someone yelling at our mistakes or making us do extra work. it is also true that improper sleep during the day would make it hard to concentrate working during the night. Thanks aeroomkar for your response!

So I don't have a night shift job but I have worked night before like until 10 or 11 and it's a lot harder than a reg day job even if you take a nap and all that. The main thing I can suggest is eat snacks (healthy) that always seems to do the trick b/c food is our "fuel" so it keeps us going. Good luck with your job!

yes i do always bring healthy food for snacks at my work place during night shifts. while i do my work, i keep it a practice that i am also muching something so i don't get sleepy. but often times i still do get sleepy and try to make a 'power nap' of about 30 minutes. it helps a lot. Thanks for your response!
