Good Black leaders are demonized!

I recently listened to some past speeches by minister Louis Farrakhan and understood why the man is feared: Louis Farrakhan is not only very intelligent, very knowledgeable and assertive (attributes the US government considers terroristic), the man sought to enlighten and inspire Black Americans towards a life of independence, courage and fearlesness.
I believe that Black Americans and a lot of people would thrive and be better if they pay attention to minister Louis Farrakhan and Reverend Jeremiah Wright! I believe that minister Louis Farrakhan and reverend Jeremiah Wright are men of God, men of faith, men with visions and plain realists! Minister Farrakhan, I enjoyed your "Economics 101"!

These two Black gentlemen, if I may call them that, are prejudice beyond belief. They have visions; visions most Black people can't/won't follow. Thank goodness for that. They seek to destroy, disenfranchise, hate...how can you admire people like this?

Yes, Hofferp, Louis farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright seek to destroy the lies and myths the society has fed to Black Americans; resulting in their almost complete psychological disability. And I believe that Black Americans who fail to heed to these two realists are doomed and bound to keep repeating their sad history of oppression and suppression.

Why don't you revisit US history and the treatment and outright dehumanization of Blacks and the history of the civil rights movement to understand for yourself?

I recently listened to some past speeches by David Duke and understood why the man is feared: David Duke is not only very intelligent, very knowledgeable and assertive (attributes the US government considers terroristic), the man sought to enlighten and inspire White Americans towards a life of independence, courage and fearlesness.
I believe that White Americans and a lot of people would thrive and be better if they pay attention to minister David Duke and William White ! I believe that David Duke and William White are men of God, men of faith, men with visions and plain realists!
No different than this.

The funny thing is that David Duke actually isn't as bad as Farrakhan. He spent more time focusing on "white pride" than hatred of black people. He started groups like the WAAACP and such that are perfectly acceptable when a minority starts them. Of course it's only socially acceptable to support a black racist, not a white one.

Shows you the hypocracy in our society...the NAACP is completely acceptable....the NAAWP is not. It is horrible for a white person to be racist...but perfectly ok for a black person to be racist.
It should not be ok for ANYONE to be racist.

I am glad you feel inspired but I hope it is for the right things. I agree these men are very intelligent. However, the problem of racism will not be solved by more racism. I think you should take away from them both independence and that you have the ability to better. But please leave behind the separatist attitude. This will do nobody any good.

Laglen, I didi not say that I was inspired by these men; I said that I was impressed and understood, in details, why they are hated by the society: Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright are men capable of seeing thru the maze of deception and way beyond what most people in the US can see about the US government, which for years suppresssed and oppressed the Black Americans to almost total independence upon the government for their daily survival. I, too, would hate anyone who want me too be completely dependent upon him/her. And, it that not what the tea partiers and most people in the land of the free are now admitting? Louis farrakhan and Jeremiah Wrigth are not dividers: These men are true reformers!

Taskr, the word "terrorist" is very subjective. Nations are known to label as terrorist those who would not share their ideas. Did you know that in the 1770s, North Americans who would not share the views of the British and resisted British impositions (acts that eventually laid the foundation for "We the people ...") were called terrorists and insurgents by the British?

I have to shake my head in disbelief at your post. If you really listen to both of these men, you won't be able to miss the hatred that they spew out constantly toward, in Farrakahn's case, the Jews, whites, and others he happens to hate; in Wright's case, he hates everything about America and pretty much everyone in this country.
Farrakhan and Wright are dividers, not uniters. They seek nothing other than the continuation of class envy and racism, which are both things that Martin Luther King, Jr. stood against. To say that both of these men are visionaries...I don't see that at all. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a genuine visionary. Farrakhan and Wright are not.

Coolcoder, I believe that you are gravely mistaken about the above mentioned individuals. Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright are merely realists. And do not think that you actually understand the history of the civil rights movement and that Martin Luther King Junior was only reluctantly accepted because the US government feared what it saw coming and knew it deserved!

I'm not going to lie and say I like Farrakhan, I'm a pacifist and I'm not cool with his attitudes towards Jewish people (prejudice does not excuse prejudice). I do agree though that often times strong leaders form minority groups are often demonized, I think race at times plays a big roll in why people are so critical of Obama. I think Sonya Sotomayor probably would have received less scrutiny if she were a white suburban woman rather than a Latina.

Actually she would have been thrown out on her a$$ if she had been white and made similar racist statement like “I would hope that a wise White woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Hispanic man who hasn’t lived that life,”

Bluehibiscus, I am not sure I understand what yo mean by Farrakhan's attitude toward Jews. Explain, please.

I wish I could message you this is such a long post for a comment, but I feel that many of the remarks Farrakhan has made are rather anti-Semitic, I actually found some quotes:
“The real anti-Semites are those who came out of Europe and settled in Palestine, and now they call themselves the true Jews, when in fact, they converted to Judaism.”
Al Jazeera TV interview, 3/18/07
"I'm not into integration. I ain't for that. God told the Jews, he didn't want you intermarrying with others. But you disobeyed him. He don't want us uniting into this that he's come to judge… You can't integrate with wickedness if you want righteousness."
8th Anniversary The Holy Day of Atonement speech at Mosque Maryam, Chicago, 10/16/03
Audience: "No."
Farrakhan: "Who owns the federal reserve?"
Audience: "Jews."
Farrakhan: "The same year they set up the IRS, they set up the FBI. And the same year they set up the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith… It could be a coincidence… [I want] to see black intellectuals free… I want to see them not controlled by members of the Jewish community."
Dallas Observer on-line, 8/10/00
Please don't be offended, he has every right to his opinion I just happen to disagree with it.
