You cannot achieve power without money, period.
In order to achieve power, you need social status. And it takes money to achieve social status. However, it takes more than money to achieve power. You need to have class and social skills. You cannot achieve power if people are not willing to listen to you when you open your mouth.
Education and social skills will give you money.
Money will give you social status.
And if you use the lot in the right place for the right reason, it will give you power.
People with social skills alone, who achieve power are call "con men". They go up that ladder really fast, and when they get caught, they fall the ladder in free fall. Millionaire on Monday, in jail on Tuesday.
Power is rarely use for the common good. It is usely use as blackmail to obtain selfish benefits. By the time someone achieve power, its brain is corrupted by greed, because it took him years of hardship to get in this position of power.
It is better to be rich and care free, without power. That way you can enjoy life with your money.
If you have power, everyone is out to get you, starting with the media who love nothing more than knocking dowm someone powerful.

If you say that what they have is not power then how could they have the ability to gain that much following? so, what you are saying, too, is that several men in the likes of jesus christ, the prophet mohammad, several good writers and leaders of our times does not have that kind of power? So, for you, power is having to use an iron hand to make people recognize or to follow you? You do not believe that ordinary people like us does not have the power to do what we want? or to make people do what we want them to do.

This was not power.
Ghandi and Sister Theresa never did seek power.
Sister Theresa lived in abject poverty all her life and did not want any money for herself.
Ghandi and Theresa gained respect and admiration across the world for their dedication in helping the poor and under priviledge. But it did not give them power.
Even the so-call most powerful man in the world, President Obama, does not have any power. His power comes from the administration supporting him. If he start disagreeing with his administration, he is out.
The most powerful men in the world are the men running the Federal Bank. And what does the Federal Bank has? All the money in the world.
If Obama wants money to do anything for his country, he has to ask permission to the Senate to beg the Federal Bank to lend him money.
The Federal Bank decides when the interest rates goes up or down, wether the President like it or not. The President has no say in it.

I'll take the money, thank you!
Why do I want the money and not power?
I want to build homes for the people who can't afford a home.
For the young mothers who have been left to fend for themselves.
For the young fathers who are having a hard time supporting their family.
For the elderly who are struggling to get by and are being cheated out of their Social Security.
I want to purchase a motel or hotel just to house the homeless and help them get back on their feet. I want every woman, man and child to have a warm bed to sleep in, a roof over their heads, good healthy food for their bodies and clean clothes
to wear....and decent medical, dental and mental insurance. Give me the money to do this and I will give you a better America.

I will prefer power.. haha =D Once i have got the power, nothing is impossible.. When i tell others to do something, they cant refuse me, because of the 'weight that i carried' in my words.. haha =D
ANd with power, i can have money easily too, with others putting in effort, and i'm at the receiving end of it.. lol =D THough money can be used to pay for the same amount of power, but there will always bound to have disputes with money issues, and as such, it's not a good thing.. haha =D

What power did you mean? Political? Because being a politician is both power and money. In this generation having money doesn't really mean that you are powerful but rather it gives you freedom to buy what you want and freedom to go anywhere. Power is being influential and respected. For me I would rather choose money first before power.

but once you have the money aren't you most likely use it to gain some respect within your peers? How do you plan to gain more money than what you have now?

Hello tegerdragon. Of the two, I prefer the latter because I am interested in living a better life with enough money buying expensive things I wish to rather than the previous which I show no interest in. I am not self-employed, but an employee. What I could do is to perform well and make great achievements and have my boss give me a salary rise. I did, but I am trying for another one after seven years. My boss is not generous because she never give her employees a pay rise voluntarily, thus making us ask for it. If we keep silent, they won't say anything about our salary...

Being in power is a passion for somebody.Being moneyed is a passion for somebody else. Some achieve a right balance between money and power. In some cultures being in power brings money and moneyed brings power. In my view both have their own specific duties.Any one can not replace the other. While money is a necessity, power need not be. So I decide which of it is required in quantities for my well being and go for it.

Why do I want money? I want money because I need it to buy the things needed by my physical body and that of my family. I want money so that I can help other people also. For me, power may come after money. But regardless, whether I have power or not, as long as I can help other people, I'll be contented.
