Working out at the gym or Working out at home?

So summer is fast approaching and like so many people out there I am trying to get back in to summer shape. I was not able to work out the entire year last year due to an injury but have been cleared since Jan and have been at it here and there. I added a healthy diet, smaller portions, drinking plenty of water and working out here and there. I just recently got myself a work out series at home that I have been doing. I love it and the best part I don't have to spend the time to actually have to go to the gym. I actually have 3 of there series all from beach body which I love. I am using Cha Lean now and love it. I have used insanity and p90x in the past. Have had great results. So I was wondering what method do you like to use? Rather hit it at home and get a great work out or take it to the gym and hit it hard? I have used both methods but since the funds are rather tight right now the saving of 40 a month for a gym membership is nice. Good Luck to everyone out there trying to drop the pounds to get in that old bathing suit! Or that new one!

Im not really a working out person to start with. But I do like to run (on the treadmill and outside and laps indoors, ALL OF IT!) and do aerobics and tae bo and dance and such. I prefer my home for the running because it's free (except the fact I dont have a treadmill in which case during the winter I run indoors at school or consider getting a seasonal gym membership) and dance studios ofere everything else I need so gyms dont really suit me.

I don't have much money so I usually workout at home. I wanted to workout in a gym but I can't afford their membership rates. There are gyms that doesn't cost a lot but their facilities are not that great. Tsk.

Hi, justpjteb. I would prefer to work out at home. I want to have my private time to work out without others around and watching. I can also wear my revealing workout outfit without others viewing my body frame either.

personally, I prefer working out at home, we have the equipment anyway so I dont see why I should waste my hard earned money on a gym membership. besides, I am too lazy to actually go to the gym but the thought that I can easily do my workouts at home energizes me and leaves me with no excuse not to workout. LOL!

Working on the gym maybe a waste of time and money but if you have your own gym then you can work it out there. I am just working out at my own house so that i will not spend money just for my foods and drinks...

Thanks and good luck to you too. I am doing the same thing-I've gained about 10 lbs and they're kinda sticking. I blame my massive sweet tooth I really can't afford the monthly gym fee and I've found that I like walking around our house more. I've heard a lot about that p90x-mainly that it's pretty extreme. I love fitTv-Gilad bodies in motion-and he can be pretty extreme at times-but he keeps me from getting bored.

My workout is even cheaper because I only do it at home following the exercises available at Youtube. So I don't spend anything just to work out. I'm doing taebo. I really like it because it makes me sweat so much I feel like I'm burning tons of calories. I've lost a little weight, but it's still nowhere near as much as I would like to lose, so I'm going to give a little bit more effort to reach my ideal weight.

for me, I would like to go working out at home because you don't have to pay for rent or the time for the workout and you can create your own equipment the weights and other stuff that a gym has and you can rest right away at home too and you can workout anytime of the day or night that you want.

Hi! Well, I'm in a good shape now, so I don't need to lose weight to fit into my swimsuit . I think that gyms are too expensive, so last time I gained weight I kept me fit not doing specific exercise, but walking a lot, and always using the stairs instead of the elevator. That's a way to keep yourself healthy too

Being a girl that's struggled to stay in "model-shape," I have found that its a LOT easier to work out at a gym. I don't know if it's just me, but I find it extremely hard to get motivated (or more like, get off my butt) and excercise. I have never had a gym membership for myself, but I love using excercise equipment at community centers and stuff.

I work out at home using the complex's pool to do more complex work outs. I can't aford a gym membership eaither and the clostest I've ever been to a gym was either in school or at the physical therpists. And, I can't afford physical theropy even though I should probably be seeing one at least once or twice a month.

Well, the gym is just a total no go for me. For a start is is just so expensive and I don't have the time to get out of the house on a regular basis to make the fees worth it. I would also feel a little uncomfortable sweating and panting infront of complete strangers...not very lady like at all!! LOL. No, I fit in exercise at home, yesterday I was jogging, and the day before that I was doing a dance workout that was on television. Having a young one at home means I have to just fit my exercise in around nap times.

I did some routine exercises at home before, now I'm working out in the gym. If you do not want to waste your time and money in the gym, better keep your body in the right shape first before hitting the gym. This is to allow you to finish gym programs easily and without too much muscle pain the next day. Home exercises are good and healthy, but when you want to exert more effort and you have a goal to reach asap (like body building for the upcoming trip to the beach), then step it up and go to the gym ^_^
