The Top 10 Oscar nominated films are as follows:
1. The Hurt Locker
2. Avatar
3. The Blind Side
4. Inglorious Basterds
5. Precious
6. Up
7. Up In The Air
8. District 9
9. A Serious Man
10. An Education
Among these films, the only ones I've watched so far are Inglorious Basterds, Up, District 9 and Up in The Air.
My personal favorite is Up In The Air. This movie was just so perfect that I actually thought that it would win the Oscar for sure. It ended up getting no awards whatsoever, which was a disappointment because I was expecting it to win at least one award from the six nominations it got.
I heard Precious is really good too. And that The Hurt Locker really deserved the award for Best Picture (anyone there who has seen it already?) I'm just glad that Avatar didn't win. Man, talk about overrated! I was glad it didn't become another L.A. Confidential scenario where Titanic won when in fact L.A. Confidential was a wayyy better movie.

Yes, I've only seen one of those movies and that is 'Hurt Locker'. I thought this was a truly fantastic movie and I must have seen it now three times already. It gives a true account of what it could be like for our forces out there in Afghanistan and Iraq having to deactivate these road side bombs. I thought that there were some harrowing scenes within the movie but overall it was a great movie, great music and quite graphic too. I think I would love to try and see some of the other movies on the list as I'm a movie fanatic anyhow. Andrew

Thanks for talking about The Hurt Locker. I'm really curious about this film. Some of my friends say that among the war films that they've watched, this movie was actually a breath of fresh air. I can't wait to see it.
Precious seems to be too melodramatic for my taste, but I'm just basing it on the trailer so I can't be too sure.

I have watched most of these movies and I liked watching Hurt Lockers and Up even Inglorious Basterds was a good one but a long one I guess.
I also enjoyed watching Avatar in 3D.
I have even seen The Blind Side and District 9 and liked these movies too.
Moral of the story: It is difficult for me to select one good movie so I have sorted out some of the good movies.
I think it was a tough call for the jury members during the OSCARS and so the most deserving movie got the glory.
Last year there were many good movies and all were on different aspects so it was a tough call I guess!!

I watched Precious after seeing Gabourey Sidibe walked down the red carpet during the Oscar awards. It was an emotional movie and I cried buckets of tears. How can one person have so much against her? The violence was disturbing but was necessary in the film. It was more realistic than Avatar. Avatar was just all effects, not my cup of tea.

I haven't seen all of them yet, I think 5 off that list, but out of the ones I saw I must say Inglorious Basterds was my favorite. It could be one of my favorite films of all time now; that "Jew Hunter" character is definitely on my favorite movie characters list.

I like Avatar and Up. Avatar has lots of meanings especially about the environment which is good since a lot of us today don't appreciate our environment and they don't take care of our environment. Up is also good cos i like cartoons and how a husband's love for her wife can really go a long way especially if it comes with a little imagination, and a cute kid beside you! hahaha

I loved Inglorious Basterds, at least Christoph Waltz won he did a great job as Landa. I was also glad Avatar didn't win.

I have to choose between Up in the air and District 9.Actually Up in the air is my favorite. I just love this movie. Wonderful cast. It's nice to see George Clooney again on the screen and in a serious role. The man who stare at goats was brilliant too so it's successful year for him. The other movie I mentioned was District 9. It impressed me with that that it is not just another meaningless movie about aliens, but there's much drama included in the movie. It shows how brutal we are actually. The movie is really heavy and there isn't that Hollywood happy ending like most of the movies.
