Why do we idolise celebrites and where is this all going?

Since there was TV viewers have thought that these TV people must be special. This cannot possibly be because we thought they actually lived in the TV but rather because they seemed to be happier (e.g. sitcoms), more clever (news readers; yes they know everything) but these days we are acrually admiring people who do not contribute to society in any way. Papparazzi are chasing these people around like criminals, kids care more about Paris Hilton's dogs than what they learn in school and we actually think that people who were on some reality show are famous. Why do the masses idolise these very normal (albeit quite good-looking) people to the extent that we do? Is this healthy and where is this going? What are we hoping to achieve by knowing what Britney had as a midnight snack two nights ago? Waht do you think?

TV is not useful thing. You just stare at it and spend your day looking how many children Angelina Jolie have adopted....I just can't understand what is so interesting? It's much better to read books than that.

I always wondered about why we idolise celebrities. I really don't I think their full of themselves some of them..just because of money..love of money is no good..have you seen some of the stars without their makeup, so maybe its just that some people have nothing better to do but focus on those celebrities with lots of money or because of their looks..but botox and facelifts for them seem to not give them that real appearance..so they seem fake..to me anyway..
