Why should the wife always go to the husband's house after marriage?

I was pondering about this question and as is the culture in India it is always mandatory for the girl to go to the husband's house after marriage. Not that I am the one who wants to oppose the year old tradition but just thought as to why the husband can't stay in the girl's house without the society looking at him as if he has done a crime.

Wao!really,this is crap..why girl should go to mens house,it can be oppssite!very true avani,its only a matter of thinking preversions,wts harm in going to girls house!this society is a crap and its tentales,a complete junk!I agree with you rest,I dont know about others!

If you will look in the society carefully,you will go crazy,seeing the rules and regulations,so dont be curious,stupidity starts early in the morning,at the breakfast table,after marriage,and sometimes there is a hell between the couple due to this stupid rules of each and every house!its just junk!and nothing else whats the use of the place where there is strangulation,suffocation!and the thing is that the groom is traped in between and can do nothing!oh!!ok ook its too much!take care,lot friend!

here in the Philippines,after the marriage,both couple will go and visit the wife and the husband's family,but the term is just to visit and not to stay and live with them. because in Christianity, once you are married, you must go and build your own home for your own family. and it is the prime duty and obligation of the husband to do that, because as the head of the family, he is the provider of the family's needs.

I don't agree with you. It is not only in India that the wife goes to her husband's house. In fact this is a practice that is followed in most parts of the world. This tradition has come down since the primitive times. But do you know that here in India there are some communities and tribes where the man goes to live in the house of the wife. This practice is followed in Meghalaya. So there is nothing wrong if the man goes to live in the wife's house.

here in the philippines it is also a tradition that after the wedding the wife will be live in the husbands wife and she cant go to their house. she can only allowed to went to their house after 3 days of wedding. the wife should go where her husband is because they are now as binded as one.

Hello avani26,I have just gone through your profile only because of curiosity to see to which country you belong - wonder you belong to INDIA.
That is really nice. The culture is being followed for so many decades.As you say why not the husband stay in the wifes house that is right but this functions only in a few cases where the wife is not supported well and also the husband will not have a goo back ground.
Any how - this is being followed as it is the husbands duty to look after the wife after the marriage.
