How to get friends on your friends list at MyLot

I'm new to this siet and I wonder how some users have hundreds of friends here.
How did you get your friends at MyLot?
Is it someone you know from IRL, or is it someone ypu have spke to.
What is the reason for friends requests?
Is it because you have the same interests or maybe you just "collect" as many as possible?
I'll to hear any response on that one and maybe it will lead me to new MyLot Friends :)

Well I personally do not like the collection friends on any friendlists. You will receive friend request during your activity on Mylot, they will add you probably for different reasons, it might be that they like the way you think about a certain topic, or maybe you post really interesting discussions so they want to follow you, or maybe because they think you are friendly
or stuff like that. I don't know any of the people on my friend list in real life, but I find some of them replying my discussions and sometimes I also reply to their, it is nice to exchange opinions and idea that's why I have them on my friend list.

I think that's pretty much the same view I got on that subject. I know other communities that collecting friends is some kind or habit or even sometimes like a competition for some people. But if that's what they want, fine for me :)

Yeah I know what you mean. I have had a friend adding all sorts of people on his Facebook friendlist just to have more friends than I do 
. I don't like actually the idea of having people I don't really know viewing my infos and photos. I told him the number of facebook friends doesn't make "status".

At FB I don't accept ppl I don't know. I use it mainly keep in contact with family and old friends. But I see some who have hundreds of friends they don't know a thing about.

I have a lot of names on my friend list here. I have been here almost three years and have added them during this time.
Some of them have become offline friends too but the majority I only interact with here on myLot. Some of them added me to make it easier to comunicate regarding myLot and its ins and outs through private messages.
The idea of having friends here, especially when you are new, is that they will probably respond on the discussions that you start because, if they have their notifiers on and can relate to the topic, they will see your discussions first.
Of course it is up to each of us individually to deal with our friend list as we think best but myLot do offer us the chance to comuncate with them outside the discussion area

Yes it does. We can only use the private messages to comunicate with those on our friend list. Some things we cannot post in the discussions (email addresses for example) therefore by adding friends it simplifies this and we can have more personal conversations.

Yes I can see that the notification system plays a role in the pattern of friends on MyLot.
Is it the internal message you mean offers a chance to communicate outside the discussion area?

Yes, that "sounds" reasonable in my "ears" - And I see that the interests and overall discussion areas seems to be the main factor of picking up friends
