how to get more my followers on twitter?

I have my twitter account for almost a year now, but, i only have 16 followers. :'(
Can anyone suggest me some method to increase my follower.. please..

Well you need to have your friends in real life add you first. Family and other people too. If you have something to offer peopel on twitter. Such as if you are a star or have music or something then more people will be willing to follow you. But why do you want more followers?

that's sad, coz, most of my family and friends don't use twitter.. :'(
i joined "sponsored tweets" and one of the requirements is to have at least 100 followers on twitter...
and currently i only have 25 followers..
