Blame The Computer

Walter and Rose Martin have lived in their current house since 1997. Since 2002 New York police have been to the elderly couples house 50 times. Is this elderly couple drug dealers or something, no but the computer keeps telling the cop that their address is where criminals live. The most recent raid was the one that broke the camels back when two cops broke a window in the back of their Marine Park home. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/brooklyn/computer_glitch_blamed_home_years_mHUCrXCM8vhEyVGJolFIPK

i would charge the police department for harassment. Why didnt they flag the address years ago. You would think after 13 years you would think the police would atleast pause before busting the door down.

50 times, how do you keep on going to the same house 50 times by mistake?

Hey gewcew, I'm not going to side with the government this time so you might want to print this one out. There's no reasonable explanation for what these people have had to endure and, I agree with laglen, they should hire an attorney and sue. The claim made in the article, that the address was flagged in the datebase but "somehow" it popped up again is not satisfactory. Once something is entered into a database it stays there until and unless someone changes something. Glossing over this kind of incompetence is unacceptable.

The police (including the management and commander) in that precinct should be reassigned all over the city and new ones brought in. IF it is a computer problem that is easy to fix and should have been done years ago.

how is this possible! 50 times and how are the police getting away with this? I cant really imagine what they have to say each time they go and harass the same people!! Maybe the police think that since its an old couple they can walk over them and try and prove something in order to hide their own incompetence over something else.

That's insane! Why hasn't someone done a couple of minutes work and kicked that address out of the alert status? I hope they sue and win, that is ridiculous!

That would have been to much work, it is better to keep going to the same house over and over again then actually get it right.

I wouldn't even understand this level of ineptitude in this day and age from some Podunk Mayberry police. It really does my head in thinking it's the police in NEW FRIGGIN' YORK! lol And while I can't get the link to load, I can still read where it says "Brooklyn." LMAO! This is the kind of police force we have in Brooklyn!? FAIL

I think either the criminals are smart enough to put or deviate the cop trackers...or the Martins are hiding some secrets or they dont know anything abot it... in past these years cops should have been able to to get this down that they are being fooled by either of them...
