Thomas Jefferson. Erased.

United States

My lovely state of Texas has just voted to remove references of Thomas Jefferson and replace him with religious idol John Calvin, and St. Thomas Acquinas. So, apparently the separation of church and state is gone. The reason Jefferson was removed is because he opposed church and state mingling together. Here is a list of other things removed: - The word "democracy". Replaced with "constitutional republic" - Transvestites, transexuals, and other things republicans don't like. - The word "capitalism". Replaced with "free enterprise"

Remind me not to move to Texas. But is California far behind?

Oh dear..... Yes, let's remove references to one of the first presidents, one who helped create the country as we know it today... This is such a terrible idea. Thankfully, my state has too much pride in Jefferson to ever do this, although our school planners did list Martin Luther King Day as "Lee-Jackson-King" Day. :/ We are a democratic republic with a constitution... they're just a little off, there.

And they are wondering why the children of the United States are becoming the dumbest ones in the world.

I'm not from America but that seems so sad that they would "disown" one of the founding fathers. Just because one party doesn't like a word they change it. Talk about being politically correct. Geez...

This is an outrage! What's worse is that I just watched 2 hours of "the news" and saw no mention of it. If Thomas Jefferson isn't central to US History, who is? Tell me that someone is fighting this or that the ACLU has filed a lawsuit against it.

I am from Texas also, but I did not know that. Thanks for keeping me up to date.

Texas has often shown itself to be narrow-minded. It must be frightening for anyone who's not a whole lot like George Bush to live there!
