Do You Get Sick Of Wearing The Same Clothes?

I don't mean wearing the same clothes one day, then wearing them again the following day. What I mean is; do you get fed up of wearing similar kinds of clothes and rotating them throughout the week?
Earlier this week I left a British Heart Foundation bag, full of clothes, ready to be collected..and it was, thankfully. I felt good about it as I had "done my bit" as cancer charities get far more donations than for the heart..but anyway, that's another issue..
The fact is, I donated a lot of clothes that (either) don't fit me anymore or I've just become bored with them. This is really embarrassing to admit but I have to wear cycling shorts (underwear) if I wear long-ish skirts as the tops of my legs rub together when I walk. This isn't a problem when I wear trousers or jeans but is irritating when I wear skirts. Therefore, I now only have 2 or 3 skirts in my wardrobe. I like to feel feminine but I can't now due to restrictions, both with my weight and the fact I haven't got money to buy new clothes anyway.
The weight issue is probably down to an under-active thyroid which will be treated in a few weeks. Hopefully, I will then start to lose weight but it isn't guaranteed.
Do you feel the same? When was the last spending spree you had on clothes? Did it make you feel good (it did me when I had money to burn lol) and are you the type of person to replace clothes on a regular basis or are you skint like me?
Please share.

I do, I very much do. I feel ragged and unoriginal and almost dirty (even though I wash them after each wear). I dont have more or better clothes because I cant afford to shop for them any more than once a year and even then I dont get much, or much good.
If soemtihing grows to old for me the chances are its not wearable for anyone anymore since I truly know how to wear out clothing till their last miles and since Im not growing anymore...

I'm sure you don't look ragged and unoriginal as you put it. We all feel that way at some stage in our lives. Even if I could afford just one top I'd buy it and it would make me feel so much better as it would be something else I can look at in my wardrobe. When you can try to buy something colourful as it's supposed to help our moods, apparently.

even though I feel that way sometimes Im okay with it. Its kind of taught me not to rely only on my looks and amterial things to get by. Although I dont copletely work without them either.
If I could afford it I would but I just find that traveling is more worth spending my money on than clothes that wont last too long.
I know that new clothes make peopel feel better but in my mind when I have a really nice top and crappy everything else I feel like a fraud and I feel like I look crappier because the top dosnt look as it belongs and the rest of my outfit looks duller in comparision. I have color and I like to make my own clothes. Again, only if I could afford the fabric.

Yeah, sure, I think it happens to a lot of people, and it does indeed happen to me too.
My main issue is that I am quite picky, so I have this system where I allow myself to buy stuff that I instantly love, as soon as I find it (I have $50 in my wallet at all times for this specific purpose. That $50 is separated from the rest of my cash). If I did not do that, I would rarely be buying anything at all, so this way I make sure I get some new stuff every once in a while, even though it is not enough. I still need to go on a spree every once in a while as well.

i send clothes to the op shop also, usually it's when i do a clean up with them. either they don't fit or i decide i don't like them. i tend to live in mine until i wear them out at times. i've had a lot of my work clothes for a few yrs now, the cows don't care what i look like. but have found one big problem in my shorts, the one that are now to big for me just about fall down and i don't like it.
but it is a great feeling to fit back in to jeans i've kept as my aim to fit in them again.

Wow, I wish my jeans were so big that they kept falling down! My weight fluctuates so much, it actually puts me off buying new clothes.

Saves you a fortune in clothing bills though! My hubby has to wear a "school uniform" as he puts it but it only involves the top half...i.e. a t-shirt and fleece with the company's logo on. Luckily, they are in black so aren't too bad but at least there are 3 of the tops he can rotate although he CHANGES his clothes when he gets in because he's just dying to get out of the uniform lol.

I have to admit I don't wear the same set of clothes often. It is because I love clothes and shopping. Actually, I buy new clothes twice a month. Sometimes, I go on a shopping spree. Sometimes, I buy just one or two. I always feel good when I am shopping. It is my favorite way of relaxation. If my closet is full already, then I donate some clothes that I have not worn for a long time. I rotate the styles of clothes I wear so that it won't get boring for me. A perk of being a girl is having tons of clothing styles.

Yes, there's nothing like "Retail Therapy" is there to keep a girl (or boy) happy. I tend to get excited buying non-clothing items like a new printer the other week. I have always been the same with electrical equipment such as hi-fi units and the like, especially when I get a lot of use out of them, like this computer for example.

I do get tired of wearing the same clothes. I'm such a creature of habit though, that even when I buy new clothes, they are similar to the old ones. I guess I just like wearing clothes that I find comfortable. I have started buying a lot of clothes at Goodwill and Salvation Army. I have gotten several shirts that still had the original store tag on them. Sometimes you can find some good deals.

Yes, I agree with you. Charity shops in general have such good clothes in them now don't they? The latest acquisition of Mum's were a pair of trousers she bought from Cancer Research...they had the Per Una label in them (from M & S of course) and they look brilliant on her. Not bad for £3...and she gave them an extra £2 'cos she was so chuffed at finding a great pair of trousers that she would not be able to find in a million years "new."

Some years before I hate to wear the some clothes not only on the next day, but also I changed it multiple times in one day. But now, when we have so difficult situation with money, I need to wear the same clothes not only on the next day, but all week along. This is terrible, but this problem now seems smaller than others!

Well, the thing is with me is that most of the stuff I gave away doesn't fit anymore due to this weight gain...sudden weight gain at that, which is why my thyroid will be treated very soon as that is the culprit. Hopefully, when I'm feeling better I'll be able to treat myself. I'm glad that you have so many clothes that you really like to wear, good for you!

I do not buy clothes often only when it is needed or by occasion only. My old clothes or clothes not in used are donated to typhoon/fire victims and sometimes to charitable institutions. And it feels great when you give freely.

Yes, I do know what you mean. Even though some of the clothes I gave away are lovely and I remember being so happy when I bought them...they just don't look right anymore. However, they are clean, well made and I am sure will give other people as much pleasure as they have with me...which is why I felt good about giving them away to a wonderful charity that I support whole-heartedly.

hie janey, i often mix and match my clothings. but at times i do get bored with some of my clothings. so i arrange them at the bottom of my drawer. after about 6 months or so, when i am bored with the clothings i am wearing, i take out the clothings that are hybernating and gives them a new lease of life. in this way, i stretch out my wardrobe and i dont have to buy new ones. i bought clothes for new year only, like once a year. when i bought like 2 blouses and 2 skirts, some of the old clothings have to go to charity or something like that. the reason is my drawer will have place for new clothings. this is how i manage my wardrobe and so far so good. thanks.

Wow, that's a great idea! I've not heard of that before..I like that comment you made about your clothes "hibernating" that's very good! My clothes tend to hang in the wardrobe and I don't think I have enough clothes now (especially after giving so many away) to rotate them. How I would love to be rich lol.

As far as I am concerned, I think I will get stick of wearing the same clothes. In my daily life, I usually prefer to wear the kind of clothes like the person who can be like a ripe man be full of interests.

I do get tired of my clothes. I usually keep my clothes for a few years, and I don't buy new ones very often. Eventually the clothes get faded or stretched or I just get sick of wearing the same thing all the time. I do usually donate my clothing when I'm done with it, if it still happens to be in good condition. I buy almost all of my clothing from thrift stores. I buy my underwear, socks, and shoes new and that's about it. I like that for what one woman might spend on a single pair of jeans, I can go to a thrift store and get several new-to-me outfits. But I still don't do so very often. I mostly replace clothing when it doesn't fit me well anymore or when I've worn it to shreds.

I am kicking myself because I saw a wonderful pair of brown leather boots in a Charity Shop window and chose not to go in. They were in my size too! I don't have an aversion to such shops anymore. In fact my Mum bought a rather wonderful jacket for peanuts in such a shop after trailing around (with me) all over Town, not finding anything she liked. We went in the Charity Shop and tried on a jacket she saw, that was it! One item I bought a while back was a rather nice pink scarf that I know would cost loads more if it had been new. I love it!

well for me i don't mind it too much as i am not much of into the latest trends and all that stuff and most of my clothes that i had many years ago that i still like to wear still fit me.
I put on some weight a while back and i was down to mostly wearing sweatpants and stuff like that, but recently was able to lose about 30 pounds so i am able to fit in most of my stuff again so i don't have to worry about it too much, since i can't really afford to go out and buy new clothes anyway.
I do like to wear more relaxed clothing in the winter i wear a lot of sweatpants and in the summer and spring if it gets too warm i will wear shorts and short sleeves just for comfort i like wearing the same types of clothes, because that is what fits me the best and that i am the most comfortable in.
I have gotten rid of my much older clothes since i don't fit into medium's anymore, but any of the others that still fit i will still wear seeing as they still fit me comfortably and a lot of those clothes were gotten so that i could grow into them somewhat and that has worked out well for me, since financially i can't afford to go buying new clothes anytime that i feel like it so the older stuff works fine for me and i am happy with what i have and thankful that i have as much as i do as others are not as lucky as i am.

Well said my friend. That last comment struck home with me because at least we HAVE clothes to wear don't we? Might not be ideal the kind of clothes I am stuck with but at least they are comfortable (like your own) so I shouldn't really moan about it should I lol.
Mind you, having gone window shopping recently I'm GLAD I don't have any money to buy clothes at the moment because some of the fashions this Spring are horrendous. Apparently, pastel shades are in! Oh, really? I think they will stay IN the shops because those shades don't suit anybody in my view...just like the tunic tops last year. I know all this will go over your head cos you're a bloke but I just thought I'd mention it anyway, seeing as I like to ramble (typical woman)!

It is great that you donate and share your unused items with those who really need it the most. I do the same also.
I have a few things like a hat and sweatshirt that I wear nearly everyday. Lol.
It is comfortable and looks good in my opinion.
There is nothing wrong with that as long as you wash it frequently enough. ha. :)

Thank you! I suppose one way of looking at it if I do come into some money or start working once again, I have a good excuse to buy some decent clothes. Yes, it was a good feeling donating the clothes as they are all clean. I couldn't bear giving away something disgusting, you know what I mean, kinda defeats the object!
