I was once addicted on it that I need to be online and see how my online games are progressing against other players. I guess what makes it interesting is because you are connected with many players at a time and you are able to go up if you are persistent enough in playing the game.
But there came I time that I lost interest in playing the game. I do not know when that happened because I just woke up one day and decided not to be online to play only. I realized there are many things to discover online than playing.

Well one thing about that is you can start by compromise. You can slowly detach yourself from it and eventually make a habit of doing something else besides gaming. From that you can eventually move away from it rather slowly than abruptly which may be hard on you.
When you have problems who do you go first? Does your online games help you with your problems? It may let you forget problems but it does not solve your problems at all. So I ask you again what is best for you online gaming or your family? Family is always there to protect you from any harm while online game are there for your enjoyment and nothing anymore. I think you should be aware of the importance of family in your life. Who gives food, shelter and clothing to you? Is it your online gaming or your family? Such question can easily be answered by you by just looking around you and feeling their presence and concern about you.

There's nothing wrong with playing games. It helps us unwind and divert our attention to other things. Just make sure to allot a separate time for each. At my age, i still play games, it's a way for me to relax and de stress. I prefer playing games than spend my time drinking with friends. But i make sure that i have separate time for it and it never gets in the way with my daily functions.

The best way is to allot a time for it. If it's hard for you to avoid it then i suggest you follow a schedule. When you have a schedule it's important not to break it. If you consider yourself an addict, it may not be that easy to let go of the vice easily so you need to slowly cut down on your gaming time and start to spend more time with your family. If it fails, just think which is more important to you, your family or your games? I think you would choose your family.

Playing online games only shows how stressful life is. Playing is one way to de-stress for I must admit it is one of the ways I do to clear my mind of too much stressful events. Playing online makes you feel like you are out of this world and into a place oblivious to daily problems.

I think it's good that you have realized what is more important between gaming and your relationship with your wife. Probably what you can do is find another hobby that will take your mind off playing computer games. Also, it could be good if you didn't see icons of games, if you erased the games on your PC, or you ban yourself from going to gaming sites. It would be hard at first, it's always hard to break a bad habit/addiction, but I'm sure you can do it in time.
