We all have long list of bill that we have to pay. And mostly we kind of try tyo juggle with money that we earned, make sure everything paid.
But here and there, come the time when suddenly the money come up short before our next salary/paycheck.
Usually i try to avoid borrowing money from anybody or any institution.
I remember one time i postponed the electricity bill. And the late fee, and penalty is such horror, so me and my hubby swore we won't messes around with electric bill.
And we certainly won't mess around with credit card bill, with all their new regulation.
What's left that pretty much have less penalty is our water and cable bill.
So far we are doing good with all our bill. But just in case...we know what bill that actually we can mess without hard penalty.
Do you ever postponed any bill when you short with money? Which one is it?

Hi Ibuemma!
As much as possible just like you we don't want to postpone any bills. However, there are really times that even if you don't want to you have no choice but to postpone it for a while. We have not experienced having any penalty yet since there is a grace period in all our bills where you are given 45 days after the due date to settle it before you get penalized. So far, we are also doing fine with our bills especially now that we do it online. Just in case we need to postpone a bill then it would be our home phone bill.

The same as me. I also hate not being able to pay bills before the due date or on time. Honestly, we are beginning to think our home telephone is useless. All of us have a cell phone and we don't get to use our home telephone that much. No one really calls us and we don't usually call using it. That's the reason my husband and I are planning to have it cut off in few months time. We think it's not practical to keep it when we don't really need it and we are not able to use it.

I pay the least important last.
I need my electric and gas.
The water comes next.
I need my car and the insurance.
If there are bills that will have to wait, they are usually a credit card, the garbage, the cable and internet( I could go without them if I had to) and other things that aren't detrimental for everyday living.
I try to pay five or ten extra on everything if I can, just so it stays ahead and the interest (if any) goes down because the balances go down just from the little bit of extra paid on the bill.

The electric bill tops our priority list!I don't want to go through another panic-mode when the disconnection letter is sent to us. Among the bills, the internet service is our last priority. They allow a month of late payments but after that, I better make sure that I pay the complete amount.
But if I can, I try to pay the internet bill on time so I can avail of their loyalty point rewards for early payments. As these points accumulate, I can use these to serve as discounts in my next bill.

I always try and have $1,000 emergency fund in the bank at all times. Further, I have no credit cards whatsoever. It's amazing how much money you really have, when you have no bills due.
But if I did have credit cards, I would pay the things you need to survive first. Home, Utilities, Food. After that, stop paying them. I'd rather not pay a credit card, than have the electric company come and shut off my power, and trust me, they will.
Here's a thought. Pay off your credit cards, and then you won't have to worry about late fees and interest rate increases.

Hi ibuemma, I have faced such situations. My clothes have been the first casualty, followed by my medical treatment unless it was imperative that I undergo such treatment. If monthly bills were considered without such things then lower quality detergents, cleaning powders, and stuff like that would come into picture. If I needed to squeeze in some more, I guess it would be my maid who would have to go. Last would be transport bill, I would travel in public transport rather than use cars.

I've paid a few bills late. Most of our bills have a bit of a cushion before they charge a late fee.

I thank the dear lord this hasn't happen to me in a long time. However, if it did the bills that I would definitely put off paying is my cable bill and maybe the water bill. Its so hard now adays for so many people with jobs lost and the economy not getting any better. Its very scary and I wonder how many are going with out food so they can have heat and electric. I wish things would turn around already.

I postpone to pay most of the time is the electric bill and internet/telephone service because there is no penalty in delayed payment only you will receive a disconnection notice. Others like credit cards are my priorities in paying my bills because of exorbitant interest rates.

There is no bill that can be late without conquance. If we're late with any of those bills, then our service gets cut off. Back when I had a land line I would let it go to the bare maxum before paying it so that I could save up the money. Grab it just before they would shut it off. But, I finally did away with the land line service and now just have two cell phones. that's all me and hubby need.

I haven't had to postpone paying a bill, but if I did, I'd postpone the cell phone bill, then the satellite TV bill and then the internet bill and then the telephone bills, in that order. I would not postpone my mortgage, credit card or utilities bills.

When I came in financial trouble I started to think which bills to pay and which don't. So I chose to pay credit bill to bank where my wages come, because if I will not pay this credit percentage, than they will take my all wages. Next bills I try to pay is that where is biggest pro-cent amount if you don't pay in the time. Also I tried to pay my rent, but now I haven't money to feed my kid, so only I can do is pray the God.

We delay everything except the electric bills because they will cut your powerlines if you were even 3 days late from paying your bill. It is not easy for us to have now electricity. Philippines has a very warm temperature that it will be difficult for my kids to sleep without air-conditioning.
