Ok, Had you saved the document ?
If not just wait and stay calm.
If there is response press CTRL + ALT + DEL and the task bar should open.
Go to processes and you have to end the ms word process, depending on the version of the ms word you're using it should automatically make a back up.
If not, just wait for your pc to un hang it self.
ALso from next time, make sure you press ctrl+S every 5 minutes.

fiazio..Thanks so much for your help. It did automatically make a back up and then it un hung itself during the night. It gave me a message this morning saying something like "word processor is now working again. Hit save and you will have a copy of your document. Word processor shut down unexpectadly and windows is looking for an answer as to why this happened. You wil be notified with information just as soon as we have some..
Now, here is the REAL strange next thing. I printed my document and what it did was only print my heading and the heading to each paragraph. It did not print any of the data under the paragraph headings!!?? obviously, somewhere, somehow it is being told to leave data out but i have no idea of how to correct this..do you?? i send Gateway (my pc manufacturer) a email to their tech dept but have not heard back asof yet..All this is new to me so i'm lost..Any further help you could give me is greatly appreciated fiazio..Thanks

The print error: Try CTRL + A this will select all the test and then open a new word instance and ctrl + C and CTRL + V (copy and paste it in the new instance)
Now try to print it.
Else, open note pad and paste the same copied date in note pad and then paste it in a new word instance.
This might just work, best of luck.
If the doc has images/other media simply replace/copy paste it.

Sounds like the application froze. Don't worry. Word has an instent recover option. Even if you haven't saved the document it auto-saves every few minutes without your input. Just restart the program and it'lll ask you if you want to view the recovered file. You may have to re-type part of it, but that's nothing compared to having to start all over.
