There is a difference I felt when I am using the desktop, and a laptop computers, regarding to their internet connection speed. When I using my desktop, I felt that my DSL connection wasn't that fast as the connection with my laptop. It is obvious when I am downloading. Is it something to do with the processor speed too. Because the CPU speed is faster with my laptop computer.

CPU capabilities/ processor speed is a critical part in performance. A dual Core CPU is faster because it is built to zap internet in the same time as running other programs.

Both of my desktop and laptop has a dual core processor, and only the speed with my laptop is a little bit faster than my desktop. I just don't know how the system work.

i do experience what you are telling, but as to my experience, desktops and laptops will always out perform each other, the only thing i do is do a tune up/cclean. Anti virus programs will take on a lot of your speed.

Not really about the processor. Maybe your it is about blocking with your desktop. Your desktop experiencing a problem, maybe you are infected too! Processor helps your computer running as fast but not the internet. If the processor help to be come my internet faster, so ill buy good processor? lol... Reformat your Desktop and im sure you will get the same speed. If you have 2 mbps connection, your download speed rate is about 200KBps. KBps 200 ( KILO BYTES ) kbps 2000( kilo bits ).
Have a nice day!!!

Normally the connection speed is affected by the network in itself and not from different devices they link with it!!So it possible that if you have a faster cpu on your pc the connection will eb better because the genral performances of your pc are faster...

With me it is the opposite. My laptop is slow and my desktop is faster. I think it depends on how much you have on each computer. I use my laptop mostly for school and for mylot. I use my desktop to print things and download music. My Internet is hooked up to the desktop and I have a wireless router so I can use th Internet on my laptop.
