Public Speaking is an Art

I am not sure that an online course would help you with public speaking. You need to actually do it to learn it. I would look into actual college classes or other recreation center classes or something like that. There are some good books to read about that type of thing though, and also about how to present yourself to people. Classic books by Dale Carnegie and Zig Ziglar, in addition to teaching social relationships and success will give you confidence to speak in front of others.

Some colleges offer classes in public speaking. And some adult education programs may have them. With all the budget cuts, not sure what is being offered in the education forum any more. If you have a particular hobby that you are good at, you can call the local girl/boy scouts or boy/girl clubs & ask if you can put on a presentation for the kids. They are very non-judgmental about the public address/speaking. They only are interested in the subject matter. Much easier to work with the kids. Check with your local schools & see if you can present your project to the kids in class... particularly elementary school kids. There are quite a few motivational speakers who have audio books.. I highly recommend Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Hank Trisler. Listen to their books & see how they do it. Zig might even have a set on public speaking, but I'm not sure. These sets may be available at your public library if you don't have the $100 or so per set to purchase them.
