Do you sign your pet's name to your Christmas cards or other correspondence?

I was on www.freekibble.com this morning, and the trivia question was how many people sign their dog's name to their Christmas cards. There were four options, and I chose the 50% answer. But no, 70% of dog owners sign their pet's name to their Christmas cards. I was stunned. I do that to be cute, but I only do that with people who also have pets that have the same kind of humor about it. You know, they don't take it seriously, they just think it is funny. I'd say 4 Christmas cards of the 20 I usually send out, I sign my name along with Sherlock's name.
By the way, I did do the cat trivia question as well. I don't want cat owners to think I don't care about feeding cats for free! : ) So dog, cat, bird, other kind of pet owners, do you ever sign your pet's name to a card, or heck, even an e-mail?

Well, I only had these puppies since Jan. but in the past for my other pets the answer would be no, I do not. Though my daughter is into not signing their name, but to take an ink pad and put their paw in it to make their very own paw print on cards..

Oh that's a cute idea!!Putting the pets paw print in ink and then putting it on the card! Just make sure that you use ink that comes off easily. You don't want your pet to lick it later and possibly get sick from it!

Oh yeah, she made sure to clean their paws off afterwards, especially with her cat. Maybe I should with my puppies, then again maybe not, they are too hyper at this age..lol (16 months)

If I wrote an e mail or letter about the cats, I might sign their names. I might, very rarely sign their name on a card, but not very often at all. I do receive cards with pet names on them though. I understand. I actually am doing well to get hubby and I to sign a card.

I wonder if men ever sign cards. I remember when I was sixteen, I cooked dinner for a teacher in my school. Just the sweetest lady. Anyway, it was for her and her husband, but two of her sons ate it also (one 15, one 25). I got a thank you card from her, and she had signed all three of the guy's names. And I know when my mom sends thank you cards she always signs my dad's name. And just last week I got a card from my sister, and she had signed her husband's name to it as well.

I make hubby sign the ones to his family and close friends, usually. He got to do photo cards of us to a few people. Yay!! He even had to address them.

No, I don't ever sign our dog's name to any cards we send out. My brother and his girlfriend do though. I think they do it because they don't have any children and their dogs are like their children. I love my dog a lot but I don't sign her name to our cards we send out.

Yes I do, when it a friend or family member, our dog has been with us for 10 years now and is part of the family, and we have a cat, so I sign our names and then under it write also, Gomez and the Cat from Hell. And they seem to get a kick out of it, and if I don't ehy ask where is the other 2? I also think it is cute, don't send out many things to people that are not close, and if you have a problem with my pets being added to your card then I don't need to be sending you a card to start with. Anyone having pets know that they become a part of the family, sometimes just like a child. So if you get a card from me it will include my pets names.

I always used to include all my pet’s names including cats, dog, bird and fish on all cards I give and send out but since I’ve been married my husband refuses to do it! I treat all my animals like people and consider them the same way I would any other member of the family so I do sign their names in some cards and letters if hubby is not looking!

I guess correct as 70% of owner do sign their pets name. I only sign my pets name on cards I send to people who also have pets (they'll understand).

I belong to that freekibble website too and saw that question..I too thought it was only 50% also. Yup, guilty here...I do sign cards and letters with my kitties names, even my e-cards. I would say everyone I know is a pet owner so none think it's strange of me to sign their names...they do it too

Sherlock is such a cute name! I don't sign my dog Timmy's name to cards. However, he does have his own Facebook profile because there are so many family members and kids who love him. He'll even "type" comments back to people sometimes update his status! (LOL) I got to where I had WAY too many pictures of him on my profile, so I made him his own (hubby's idea) so people could keep up with him and all the pictures on there. I think it was a great idea, but I would probably not ever sign my dog's name to cards. I think it's cute that other people do, though!

Hi Amber! I always sign my pets names on my cards! I even sign
them on peoples cards that don't like cats, like my Mother and
boyfriend! I don't care! They are my babies, my children and
they are my family so if someone doesn't like it then that's
just too bad! I have always signed my pet's names always! I
don't see anything wrong with it! I don't have human children,
only cat children and they mean everything to me so I would
never leave them out! Hugs, Leslie, Star and Luna

yes, ambiepam, i do write my pet's name on the cards that i sent out mostly greeting cards. for other cards like invitation card, i omit it. pet is part of the family extension and are included in greeting cards more out of fun. that is all its meant to be. have fun with pets, ambiepam.

Of the 30 I send out I only sign it to about 3..but I would have chose 25% really because I wouldn't think that many did it..everyone in my family has animals and not one but me on rare occasions and with only a few..sign a pets name..But as you said..a whopping 70% wow..now that is kinda hard to believe..lol But I guess there are more out there then I thought..I don't sign a letter or email with a pet's name.. but I do tell the person that the animal said hi..lol especially if it is to my mom...it annoys her to no ends for me to call her granny to my baby's(pets) lol
Sincerely..Becca and Hercules..lol gotta be a first time for everything..

Yes not only do I sign Bandit's name to all cards I send in the mail I also sign her name to all the e cards I send as well. All my friends and family members know Bandit is a very important family member. She is always included and never left out. I have included Bandit in email as well.

Usually, it is my husband who will sign a card on behalf of our dog. He will write with his non-dominant hand and write in some of the letters backwards. It is always touching to me when he does this.

Well, it's unique to hear this. I agree that this action is a signal of loves to animals and a sense of species equallity. Perhaps I will consider to sign my Nimmo which is a cute goldfish on postcard. However, people of some regions do not like this action because of resons of religions beliefs, probably. I have a friend and he regards cats as a symbol of doom, so he can not imagin if he signs the name of a cat of a letter and post it to someone else.

I've never personally signed my pet's name on a card, but I love it when people treat their animals like people because they really are a part of your family. I have taken holiday pictures with pets for the front of cards, though. It's so cute when people put a Santa hat on their dog for a holiday photo. I'm sure the animals love to be included in our festivities.
