If so where do you place it? And what kind of seed do you use usually? I have one outside our front living room window I thought that way the kids could bird watch. Seems all we ever watch are the Starlings raiding the feeder & an occasional squirrel.

we have a feeder outside of the cat's porch - or playpen as we call it We put critter food in it because the cats actually find the squirrels much more entertaining then the birds

and they are less afraid of the cats - one time a squirrel was eating from the feeder and Ping reached out and touched its tail The squirrel was like "YOU TOUCHED ME!!!" And Ping was like "I TOUCHED IT!!!"

My husband made a bird table and attached it to the trunk of our felled pine. It's a really simple design, with a little bird house on the top and two 'arms' to hang things on, like a seed feeder with perches and a net of nuts. On the top of the felled tree trunk, I've placed a stone bird bath and also lots of seed for bigeer birds. I've been lucky enough to attract blue-birds, robins, blackbirds, wood-pigeons, song-thrushes, sparrows and dunnocks. But it takes time for the birds to get used to the idea that the feeders are there. Then they'll pass on to one another that it's a good place to go and get food.

Hummingbird feeder - Picture of hummingbird at feeder.
Hi SnuggleBunnies. Yes, I sure do, though I don't fill it will regular bird seed as it is a hummingbird feeder. LOL It's not filled at the moment as the weather needs to get (and stay) warm first. However, when it is, my husband keeps it up high so it is out of reach of our autistic son. Unfortunately he'd find a way to scare the birds away. At least with it being up high the birds can feast undisturbed...most of the time. Happy mylotting!

We don't have a bird feeder in our yard because I believe that if we did there would never be a bird that was lucky enough to eat out of it. We have a lot of squirrels in our yard and last year they got every last tomato off of our tomato plants. That is the reason that we've decided not to have a bird feeder in our yard. It would be nice though because there are many different birds around here. This year alone I've already seen cardinals, starlings, robins and a dove.

Yes, I do, and we have birds all the time. My kids, and even my puppy, loves to watch them. For Easter I am getting them each a wooden bird house they can paint, and hang in the tree. Not the puppy LOL.

No, I don't have a bird feeder, but most of my neighbors do. So, I get to enjoy the company of the birds without actually feeding them. I have a pond in my back yard, and the birds love that. So, I water the birds!

I have a few birdfeeders around the yard. I have to keep them high up because of cats. One birdfeeder was made by my Dad and given to me the last Christmas he could still do any woodworking. It's about 18 years old now, and I keep it in good repair and cherish it! I keep that one outside the picture window in the living room. I have another one that I keep further away that hangs on a pole (down) off the limb of a tree that's high up. I do hummingbird feeders in the summer, and those I keep hanging off a shepherds hook from a hanger in the wood above the outside window frame. Hehe, my inside kitties can't reach it, but they love to sit and watch through the window. I usually get a mixture of thistle, sunflower and millet. That seems to attract the largest number of different birds. One feeder usually only has corn and sunflower in it, that attracts different ones too. I have success keeping squirrels away with sprinkling a little cayenne pepper in with the food. I read that hint at a birding site once. They say it doesn't affect or bother the birds, but the squirrels and chipmonks hate it! (Works for me! Even the raccoons seem to hate it!)
