Do you take time to pray?

For my part, praying had been a beautiful habit. I had a lot of it when I was in high school. Now, I seem to give no time for prayers. Although, I do not miss Sunday masses, I always pray before I sleep and eat or I always strive to attend important masses such as novenas, christmas, mary mother of god, immaculate concepcion and the easter masses. But I can really see the difference of the way I pray before and now. How about you? Do you still take much of your time to pray?

I am a pagan, so I do not pray to the God that Christians are used to pray to. What I do to keep my spirit up is meditate a couple of times a week. 2-3 times every week, 7-10 minutes each time is just perfect for lifting up my mental, spiritual and physical strength.

C'mon, it is generally known that nowadays meditation, even if it originally came from religion, has very often nothing to do with any of the religions. It is just a good practice for one's mind, it helps the meditating person to uderstand himself, life around him, find a meaning in life etc. It can be practiced by anyone, even a non-religious person. You just release your logical everyday thinking, and let loose the subconscious part of your mind by sitting in silence and either focusing the mind on a certain thought/object/sound or closing eyes and letting the mind drift away from the realiy. A very relaxing experience, I should say.

It's dreaming of nothing but black and white! I love it. I am not sure if I can do this since I can't really easily let loose of my thoughts. I think too much.

I'm quite interested with how your meditation goes. I mean, yeah. Is it the same with Moslems who bow towards their altar? We have different ways of meditating as we have different religion. I am highly interested to know your ways and means of meditation.

I used to. But, I never felt like I was being answered. Sometimes I felt like God does not love me. Know a days I beleive God already knows what I need. He knows when I am grateful, when I am being truthful. I don't have to tell God. Sometimes when I am lonely I will have a conversation with God. Sometimes I sing my songs only for God and the Angels. That makes me feel happy. I have seen people who pray, and don't mean it. That to me seems worse than not praying at all.

So true, it all takes time. Something we as humans don't always understand. But, God works in mysterious ways. That is for sure. I guess we have to learn to be patient. I find that very hard to do.

All prayers are to be answered if its possible. But His answers do not come instantly. Sometimes, it will take time.

It's hard to be patient. But then, I have mastered this virtue now. And I can really say that I have an easy way dealing things with pressure and depression because of patience. Mastering this may take time also but it is never regretful when you reach there.

It does not follow thought that you are religious when you pray. We all have the freedom to do this.

I pray all the time and all day. I think if we just simply ask we will receive but we have to believe we'll receive if we ask for it--- It only takes a few secs to ask God to bless you and thank him for all the blessings he's already given you. Take the time. It makes a difference.

IT has to be paired up with faith too that our prayers be answered. That's the only way I see how it will work.

Prayer is the food for my soul. I will start my day with a prayer. I really take time to pray because it is my way of showing love to the Lord. Aside from that, when I pray I feel everything is in order. I feel light and no burden at all. It's good to keep the right track as we start with the day. Thus, prayer is very important for me because I also feel secured with I am on a daily prayer.

This is so true. Whenever I feel like I'm in my most sincere way of praying, everything follows will be light and very in order. The day seem to be so complete and you have less or no troubles at all. I agree that prayer should be taken as the food of our soul. Because whenever we do it sincerely, we are being provided by a light heart and a light feeling which keeps confident in whatever we do because there is no defeated battle with God.

I used to pray more when I was a kid. I always lead the family when we say grace before meals. I think it's because I went to a Catholic school. Now, I usually pray only at night before I sleep. But even if I'm too tired, I try my best to pray even if I'm already half-asleep. I wish I was prayerful like others.

I also oblige myself to pray before I sleep to thank God for the day. And, last night I did my prayers while half-asleep. It's amazing. But I wish I could be more sincere and disciplined.

I pray every time I go to sleep or have a meal. but I often spend my time (15 minutes or up to 2 hours) with my God to have a close relationship with Thee. It's relaxing and comforting. May God's peace be with you.

yes i pray to god every night before i sleep while im lying in my bed. though i dont go to church regularly. i still believe that go appreciated it more if one person rather pray to god inside our room and being alone as we pray to our god with all of our heart than be in public prayer yet your presence is not even there.

Sometimes, I am guilty of this. I am more sincere in praying inside my room than attending masses. Although, I have to go to masses regularly because I find it as a big obligation as a Christian. Furthermore, masses have elements which sole prayer doesn't have. But prayers are powerful too. Another thing, mass anyways is the highest form of prayer.

You know what. Praying could really make you feel good. I suggest you should learn how to value prayer even though you don't have a religion. Try it, you will know the beauty of it basically by experience. Make it too often.

hello there uni:) happy day to ya...I pray alot more now than i used to, I always said my prayers at night with my family or alone..and when i pray its more like Im having a conversation with God than praying really..I always tell him about my day and what angered me..or made me the happiest..he was like the best friend i never had..i was a loner child,i mean i had friends but no one i ever trusted..and after i would pray i always feel better like he lifted everything off my shoulders, and i have my son say prayers with me for when we eat and go to bed and if there if someone ill needing a little extra love and prayer..My b/f recently passed and i have felt so alone its been the worst week of my life..and its hit me hard..so when Sky is outside playing and i just start to cry..i talk to him..and though its a short time..i feel like he has taken the heartache away for a short time till it comes back..almost liek he cloaks me with an invisible hug..I have never been into chuch though and he knows how I feel about teachings and alot of issues i have with whats supposed to be believed..but i know hes up there and i know hes always here..i just wish he would let himself be seen every now and again lol..

It's a nice feeling sharing to God your entire experiences in a day every night. And, you are a loner as I know. But I really like you because you find God as your best friend. I envy you. He is my best friend too but I often ignore Him. He never fails to let me lean on His shoulders whenever I have problems. We have almost the same views about who He is to us but we are very different of how we see ourselves to Him. I hope to increase further changes with mine.

At sometimes in the day, instead of praying I will talk to god. Outloud. I mean I know he is everywhere and is always watching. So sometimes instead of kneeling down, or going to church Ill just talk to him as if he were my best friend. Sometimes I even write him letters.

Hi uniquerorn,Yes I do,Everyday in my life I used to pray when I wake up,before starting in my whole day activities. Then before bed time.I have also a devotional prayer daily..For me,my day is not complete without Prayers. It make me strong to face what ever trials and tribulations happened.Have a nice day.

May I know the difference of devotional prayer from other prayers? It's a new thing for me. I mean, has this something to do with putting one's prayer to one saint only? Like, you are a devotee of Mama Mary. So, it follows that you pray with her intercession only. Am I right?

Well i think praying is a good habit. Though i dont do it most times. I believe god is at heart, thus a minute is enough to thank him for all he has given. But the habit cultivates the discipline and kills our ego that of all there is someone superior and thats he our dear god!

Just a thought here. For one feel that he is truly with God, he should say that he is in the heart of God rather than God is in my heart.

I was just like you before.I never missed to pray before sleeping. Before I didn't say grace before meals. Now I don't forget praying before meals. What I do forget now is to pray before sleeping. Reason maybe because I'm so tired that when I go to bed I easily fall asleep. But though my prayer time has lessened (which I am now trying to change), my prayer is now becoming more personal. When I was a child, all I did was to ask whenever I prayed. As I become older, I've learned how to give thanks. Now I'm learning to claim God's blessings.

The same here. When I was a child I pray to ask. When I was in high school I pray to thank and guide the people around me. Now, I often do not use formula prayers. Taking it personally would make your more comfortable talking to him.
