Nofity is now automatically turned on but ...

I used to dislike approving friends' request because I need an extra step to turn notify on for each friend's request separately. The extra step is often skipped because it took a while for the page to refresh. This is not so anymore!
It was a breeze approving friend's request now. Notification is automatically set to ON. I certainly appreciate this move as I only respond to friends' discussions via email notification!
My eyes started to roll when I scroll through my friends' list. There weren't any with notifications OFF! Oh dear! Will my mailbox be spammed again if I do not want to go through the list to turn notify off for certain friends.
I was caught in a fix! My friends and friends-to-be, do you have the same problem? What would you do if you are in the boat? Let it be and just delete the unwanted mails? Spend the night going through the friends' list and turn off one by one or simply delete the friend?

If I am caught in the certain situation, I would delete all the e-mails but I won't remove my friends. I will turn the notification to 'off' so that my inbox won't be full even if it would take me an hour to do it. What I do is I go to the homepage and go to the 'discussions my friend started' on the right instead of receiving e-mail notifications. That way, I could see all the topics on one page and just open them in new browsers.

this is one of the features i like most after the upgrade. though it will turn our inbox into flood area of notification from mylot, i love this because, just like you, i respond to my friends discussion from inbox. i am really glad with this upgrade to friend requests.

I like the fact that the notify comes on automatically. If I have a problem with too many from one person, that don't interest me, I will turn them off.

To be honest, I have had to go through the list and switch the notification OFF, I was finding a mailbox crammed full every day and while I love to be able to read and respond to all my friends here, it was getting a little too much.

Wow bighead, this sounds like a commercial.
But one with a hidden negative meaning?
So far, I am still accepting all friend requests. But I don't get any email notifications from them so I am not sure if they are notify-off or they are just not starting discussions.
Spam is awesome. Just a bit salty.

This new notification thing has been driving me nuts too. In the past, I used to enjoy browsing all my friends' discussions and responding to those I feel are interesting; in fact, I loved it the manual style. But now that notification has been automatically turned on, all those notifications start pouring into my email inbox, and it is certainly not very welcome considering some of my friends start so many discussions that it is actually a shock to log on to my email to find nearly a page full of notifications from myLot about those new discussions started. I simply wouldn't bother turning the notifications off because I don't mind deleting them off (partly also because I don't know how to turn the notification off too - or probably I just couldn't be bothered ). If the friend means nothing to you, it is also an option deleting them off your friends list. I mean, the are so busy starting new discussions that they probably won't even notice one friend less on their list, right? Well, it's all down to us how we want to do it.....

Hello dear!
I think automatic notification 'on' is also a problem.
You may not like to have notifications for all your
friends' discussions, if you have a long list of friends.
I think, the previous position was better, where one could
switch the notification 'on' for certain friends. I think
keeping the notification 'on' for everyone could be troublesome
and one cannot find enough time to check all the nofiation
in his/her inbox.
