What have you learned from kindergarten?

Learnings from kindergarten - Life's instructions from kindergarten

Have you read the poem by Robert Fulghum, All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten? I mostly agree with this poem. You could grow up a decent person just living through and following these instructions. For me personally, the two I put in highest regard will be the warm cookies and cold milk being good for me; and to clean up my own mess. Up to now, I couldn't resist a warm cookie, bread pastry, etc. and cold milk, shake, etc. I also am a bit of a neat freak, and don't like mess. Obsessed with cleaning up, and getting organized. The rest of the instructions mostly work for me too. How about you? Any learning from kindergarten that you still stick to, even now?

hi bounce58 yes a long time ago and I remember thinking how much truth was in that poem. oh I loved the warm cookies and cold milk idea too. Always thought that was really good, and they do make you feel happy throught out but nowdays with me its warm cookies' and hot coffee really. but I do love neat tidy places but alas I am not as tidy as I would like to be. but I want to be tidy and I do work at it, which is hard to do living in a room with a roommate and not too much extra storage spaces. I am going to get that poem out and read it again. thanks for a great discussion.

Hello Hatley. Actually, there are a lot in the poem that really strike me as of more importance in my life, than the two I put in here. For instance, saying sorry is one I take to heart. I hope you enjoy the poem, and thanks for responding again.

Seriously, even though I am not old, at my current moment, I realised I couldn't remember anything much from kindergarten except for the time i spent with my friends then. I remember I can still celebrate my birthday in class and share my cake with everyone including my teacher and my granny. I can only say i learnt that sharing and having the company of my friends are 2 ways to gain happiness and really smile whole-heartedly.

You are right. Then again, true fact is that almost everyone around me is always busy.. finding time to share is considered difficult to me now.. Sign.. I wish i have a pause button now...

Hello sherrie. Even that simple fact of celebrating a birthday, and eating and sharing your cake, you can do and apply to yourself now that you're a little bit older. You shouldn't stop celebrating your birthday. And even if everybody says it is not good, you can always eat and share cake anytime. Thanks for responding.

Yes. I love redheads! My first "love" was a redheaded boy in kindergarden. I can't remember his name but I do remember his curly red hair! As for warm cookies and cold milk. I love cookies but not the milk. As for cleaning i am not that great at but I am organized.

So you've developed your love for redheads in kindergarten?! That's funny because I think my 3-year old has a similar attitude to hair. I think he has a thing for blondes. In a playground, he would only play with blondes. I guess he already knows that blondes really have more fun. It'll be interesting to see him in kindergarten.

Heck I barely remember Kindergarten. I just remember the first day, an older girl made a big deal about how she was in 2nd semester and I was in first (we used to have a September schedule and a February schedule and I started in February). So I guess I learned that some people can be really full of themselves over a silly little thing.

Maybe she hasn't realized it then that she was so bad at school, that she had to repeat it again. That's why she was on her 2nd semester. Am I right?

Hhmmmm, what have I learned from Kindergarten.... NOTHING! because I did not experience it, i went straight to Grade One, i don't know but my mom enrolled me and I was accepted straight so I did not experience Nursery and Kindergarten levels. About the poem, i was not familiar of the author. Although I am also fond of cookies, but I dip it in juice , not milk weird and strange kid I was. But i like the memories of my childhood days and will always thanked God for keeping me safe. Sorry, i cannot give further on the last question you have about learning stuffs during those moments and I cannot say anything else I'd stick on to during that Missing link moments, hehehe!

I would like to say that you might be messed up because you did not go through kindergarten, but I'm sure that you're not. I'm sure that you've managed to learn all the rules for kindergarten, and for grown ups all by yourself. Still, if you want to know what the poem was all about, just look it up online. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Thanks for the response.

Hi there, I can;t really remember things that I have learned in kindergarten and I haven't read that poem you were talking about. I might read it one day though. Anyway all I can remember during my kindergarten years was all fun and play and learning to write my own name. I can still remember when I and my twin sister could write our names correctly then we would show it to our mom and our mom always gives us a candy reward, lol and also if we can memorize and determine the days of the week and what day is it. So far that's all i can remember, lol.

Hello Mike4me. There's actually a lot of versions in the web. The basic premise is that everything we learned in kindergarten, we could extrapolate and apply to our daily lives. Thanks for the response, and if you get a chance, try looking it up.
