how do you get your site indexed by search engines?

hi guys, I just have a question hope you all could help me. If you submit your website or blog url to google, yahoo,bing etc will it get indexed and will it appear on the search engines? how long will it take till they upload your info into their engines? any advise on how to get your site indexed? thanks a lot.

I'm actually not sure how to do it anymore. There was a time that I knew you had to submit the site that you were trying to get indexed time and time again, but it is different now and I'm not quite sure how to do it. I must admit that you are a very intelligent person for wanting to have your site indexed so that you will get more traffic to your site. Good luck with it, I hope once you are indexed you get the traffic that you desire.
