Handling skilled personnel

How do you handle skilled personnel with different attitude? I have handled different skilled personnel with different attitude for the last 20 years, and its a very challenging role for me. I worked as a maintenance supervisor for 17 years in a dyeing, finishing textile company and i feel the urged to ask you out there how you do this kind of job. There are personnel who are irritable who does not want to worked but wants to get paid. There are personnel who just want to work but if after his shift, just leave the work place even if the work should be done in overtime. There are also personnel who works very slow just to be able to have overtime. Have you encountered this type of skilled personnel?
