Out of sight, out of mind?

Do you have things in your life which you keep hidden, so as not to deal with them? If not hidden, you choose to put off, so just that you don’t have to deal with them right now?
A friend of mine who is not of the best health has chosen to put off going to the doctor. Even after a few advices, he still manages to ‘not-go’ because of one thing or another. He said that he’s not ready to face the doctor yet, or hear how bad his health is. So for now, he is postponing it.
I myself, have an example of my own. There is some major clean up in my backyard that needs to get done. Since it is officially spring, the mess or untidiness back there that was left over the winter has already been brought to light. I have my list of excuses, but for now, I just chose to draw the curtains close. Maybe next weekend, I’ll do it.
How about you? Do you have something big that you’re not dealing with? What have you put off? Are you hiding something?

No. I like to deal with problems as soon as I can. I believe it is best for people to do the same. The longer a problem bothers you, the worse and more emotional it can get. Also it can combine with a new problem that comes up.
It is best to keep your life and your mind clear of all problems and things that can potentially bother you.

I can't escape my subconscious
If I put something off-it'll just eat at me until I complete it...maybe this is a bad thing-but it's how I've always been.

I don't trust doctors so I wouldn't go to one Unless I was ready to die. I don't hide a chore I Should do I just don't do it until I am ready.I have a chore where it requires some writing . Am I doing it? No.I am not ready yet.

What I am putting off is something that would make things better for me. so when I am ready I'll do it. But if you Want to use the back yard, then you Have to get it ready.

haha.. i wish i have curtains.. I can put off cleaning my windows and clearing my room.. I have put off cleaning for a year... Work, family has always make me put off the chores... To me making money and spending time with my love ones are more important than cleaning up... That is probably my excuse. Until i found another excuse that may prove me wrong... =

For a year?!
That's way too long. Maybe you don't just need curtains. Maybe you also need blankets to cover everything in your room! LOL!
Actually, I'm a bit like you. There are a lot more important things that need to be done before the cleaning. But I do make it a point to clean once or twice a month.

Hey bounce! I am the Queen of Procrastination as I have said on
here many times! I have alot of work to do in my apartment and
I just keep putting everything off for as long as I can! I also
have some serious health issues and need to have some tests done
soon, but have decided the apartment must come first! If there
is something seriously wrong with me I want the apartment to
be in order first! So, I am really screwing up my priorities
for sure! I have given myself until April to get everything in
order and all the medical tests to be done! I am hoping that
I will be alright because I promised my Mom who is 80 that I
would come down to Florida in May and I pray that I will be
alright to keep that promise! So please pray for me because
I am afraid that my health issues might be serious and keep me
from being able to go see her and that would freak her out and
me too! God, please watch over me and my Mom because she needs
me!

Hey thanks for the well wishes, bounce! But, one thing that
will never happen is my mom sitting in the sun or near
the pool! She hates the sun and is terrified of water! And,
doesn't even know where the pool is and it's right across
the street from her house!lol

Hi Opal.
I'm sure you'll get through whatever you have to do in the apartment pretty soon. And I'm sure that whatever health condition you're in, it is nothing that a simple pill or medicine can cure. I'm sure you'll be in Florida in May. And I'm sure that one afternoon in May, you'll find yourself in lounge chairs with your mom, beside each other, just enjoying the weather.

Honestly? Yes, I have lots of things I put off! The most recent one is putting off going to the dentist as they petrify me! I also put off making an appointment with the nurse at my GP practise as well as my GP! We need to tidy the house up and my excuse for not doing that is that I'm not very stable on my feet! Then there is the money thing... I'm overdrawn at the bank but can't stop spending!

Hello AmandaGeorge.
First of all, welcome to myLot.
I think you have to suck it up, and gather enough courage to go to the dentist. For myself, there is nothing I would hate more than a toothache. I find that it hinders my love for eating.
Thanks for responding.

hi bounce 58 right now I am tossing two things up in the air
tryng to decide when I will go see this eye doctor, and when'
will I go get my diabetes blood work done. mostly I am
loathe to spend all of the little money I have left going
to both these things as I have to take the access bus
and the round trip will cost me five dollars and fifty cents
so that will take most of the money I have left for this
two trips plus as a diabetic I must keep a supply of quick
sugar on hand for low blood sugar plus i have several
'personal items I must buy I realize health is important
but money is money and I cannot spend what I have twice
so must decide. It would be so much easier just to wait
until after April first.

Your friend is very much alike me. I put off going to the doctor for over two years. I'm sick and tired of them. I try to solve my health problems alone if they couldn't. Then I put off for a very long time to modernize my house because I'm afraid of the workers. One can hardly find good workers today.

Hello LadyDD.
I hope that whatever that is that you're feeling, is not too serious and can really be put off. I'd hate to hear that something could have been done, if only you would go to the doctor earlier.
Thanks for dropping by anyway.
And happy myLotting!

hello! well, i don't have things that i have hidden from all others in order just not to deal with them, because I really don't have things like that and I don't also think that there is something that important so that I should hide it from others :)

As much as i would like to deal the problem immediately just like webguy. However I dont have much time to do it. As I work 5 days a week and I start my work at 5am and finished at 12mn. So I am really tired in going home and if its weekend all i do was get some rest and sleep for the whole day if I could. Well the one I am avoiding is cleaning my own room, its been a month now that I haven't clean my room. Since I am avoiding it, I am sleeping the my parents room to avoid the dust and dirty room I have.

Hello ada8may21!
That's terrible! The way you work from 5am to 12 midnight. And then you rest on the weekends. It sounds like you don't have any 'me' time for yourself. I hope you find a way to ask your supervisor to lessen your load. And I hope you don't put off asking your boss.
Thanks for the response.

Its really terrible, in time I would like to complain however for now I still could not because I am still a trainee here. Maybe when time comes, just have a little patience in me.
