Next week is my daughter's spring break and I imagine that there are a lot of other people that have had spring break already or have an upcoming spring break.
Are you travelling this year for spring break? Where are you going if you are taking a trip?
Our family is going to be staying at home because my husband has dealt with a lot of medical issues this year so we don't have the disposable income at this time to take a trip. However, we are hoping that we will be able to take a vacation sometime during the summer.
Come on people, make me jealous of your trips.

We were supposed to go to New York City for a few days and bring my son to a Yankees game.. but then we ended up spending all the money we were supposed to save for the vacation.. lol, the story of our lives. We figured we'd still be able to afford it, we'd even gotten all our bills caught up, but now things are starting to look a little tight again and we have too much due all at once... so oh well... maybe another time.

I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't going to be able to take your son to a Yankees game right now. I know that you were looking forward to that opportunity. There will be another time that you might have that opportunity.

well we donthave a lot of money either because hubby is not working but he has an aunt and uncle who live up north (here in ontario, canada) on a lake so last week, we took a few days (i took time off of work) and went up there. it was really nice.
we are hoping to do the same in the summer (we can stay with them so it really doesnt cost us much except gas to get there!)

That does sound like it would be something that would be quite enjoyable. We used to go up and spend time at my grandmother's house when she was alive and honestly that was as good as any vacation. However, she passed away three and a half years ago and my mother sold her house just over two years ago so we no longer have that opportunity.

dorannmwin,
I am sorry to learn of your husband's health problems and I pray that he will get better.
I hope that your family will still be able to enjoy time together during this break. You may want to consider some nearby places or rather a drive away distance from your home.
I am not going to be your dampener but I'd just like to add that traveling during peak season is just as harrowing as going through the air turbulence in mid air. The long queues at check in, immigrations, customs and not to forget the expensive peak season surcharges at every attractions and hotels.
I find that we can always feel happy if not better with conventional mode of transportation and attraction close by like parks, museums, convention centers, malls and even revisiting places where we dated can be very heartwarming and beautiful. Let me assure you nothing ever beats it, not even seating the first class cabin or sleeping in a 5 star hotel room.
Have a nice day.

dorannmwin,
Wow!
The steam powered engine train is a classic and I am sure it will be a worthwhile experience.
I am sure your son and family will enjoy this trip.
Again, all the best.

It isn't going to be during spring break, but Memorial Day weekend (the end of May) we are wanting to take the children to the state railroad museum (we've never been) and ride a steam powered train. We went and rode a train that is closer to us last year and had a really good time. But, my son loves Thomas the Tank and riding a steam powered engine will be really neat for him to get to experience.

It is, that is exactly the reason that we aren't going to pick just any old weekend to do it. We are going based on the Steam engine weekends. I'm excited just thinking about it and I know that the kids will have a great time.

Spring break doesn't start here til Good Friday. We won't be going anywhere for fun between the fact we don't have the cash to spare and gas is on the rise again. It's teetering around $3 & we haven't even switch the reformulated gas for summer yet! Sorry I have nothing to make you jealous of.... we're lumping it too!

We used to have spring break on the week following Easter, and I really wish that they'd go back to that. But alas, things are what they are.
What I really don't know this year is how I am going to deal with my daughter. All of her friends get to go out of town and we are stuck at home. I think she wants to spend some time with her grandparents, but other than that, definitely nothing exciting for her.

dorannmwin oh yes medical bills really take a huge bit out of one's
spending money.I have to stay here as I am like alot of other people
living on social security and SSI checks which Gold Crest takes most of for monthly rent and so so food. well its a roof over my head and three meals, such as they are, a day. so I will have to take pretend vacations reading about lovely places to go, and searching in the web for interesting ideas. Its not so bad as long as I have time for mylotting.
Maybe you will be able to take a great vacation this summer and really
have some fun.good luck, God bless.

I do often lose myself in a good book. I imagine that I am right there where the book takes place. It really is a wonderful thing.
You are lucky that you do have a roof over your head and food in your belly right now even though it does take the majority of your money.

I am going to go geocaching with my friends this Spring Brak, and it is going to be completely awesome. We're gonna hike, explore, all to find the geocaches hidden in the most interesting areas of the world. We'll most probably stick for our country for now though, Romania.

I've read about geocaching before and I think that it sounds like it would be a lot of fun, but I've never actually had the opportunity to do it. I would like to take a day sometime during the summer to do this with my family.

Hi Dorann,
That's great. At least she will have a good break for herself too. My kids just had their recognition day today and tomorrow is already the start of their summer vacation here. after the holy week they have have their summer school program. we are also planning to go a pool resort for a swimming bonding with the kids. but most of the summer vacation we will just stay at home! i hope your husband will be recovering from his medical concerns.

Her class was supposed to have a field trip today, but wouldn't you know that my daughter ended up getting sick so she has to miss the fieldtrip that she's been so looking forward to. However, it also means that she will have a full week to recover from being ill and hopefully she will start to feel better soon.
I wish we were going somewhere nice, I really do, but it is also nice to just relax at home and dream of what we are going to do during the summer. There is only two more months left and then my daughter is going to be in second grade. (Scary to think she is growing up so fast.)

Hi doran, it is still too hot here in my place, the weather is gloomy too, some days temp hikes to 48 degree celcious, not the right time to travel, you know from my discussions, i was with my son in south india for 65 days, from there we went on pilgrimage to places in north india. You should give top priority to health of your husband....
Sorry for late response.. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome always.
Cheers.

No problem at all with the late response. I know that life does get in our way from time to time and we might miss something that would have interested us. That said, hubby is the one that is wanting to do more things with the family this year which is why it is what we are doing.
