I know it sound silly. I grew up being a Christian. And my dad always made sure that I never missed Sunday School and the service every week. Just yesterday, the priest in my church mentioned that story when Jesus and his disciples went on the boat. First the water calm and it said Jesus was sleeping. Suddenly the storm came and the disciples woke Him up and ask Him for Help. Point one of the story mostly is God always there whenever you need or call Him. But actually the second point is that's how human act. When there's no storm in our life, we kind of "forget" that we have God in our life, and actually we let Him sleep and do nothing or even not "include" Him in our life. And then the storm come, and we have so much trouble in our life, then we start calling, screaming "God wake up, help me with the trouble" I admit that couple time I did exactly like the story goes. I didn't let Him involved in my life. When my life in trouble then I panicked looking for Him I'm not sure how the idea to write this come from, but I thought I just want to share it. Do you ever let God "sleep' in your life?

First of all, God does not sleep. You may only think of it like He seems too far away or His presence isn't there, but He is always waiting for you to ask Him to come in. God will never let Himself inside your heart if you don't invite Him to come. That is why, we are given a free will to choose. He cannot force himself or even manipulate us humans in every decision we make. Although it was really natural on humans to remember God only in times of trouble, but when there is no storm, we seem to forget Him too. But when you come to know more about God, you will also know the very reasons why we are created by Him. To seek Him daily, giving thanks to Him and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

I know God never sleep. That story just describe how we are human, so many times ignore His presence. It's just amazing that He always patience in waiting. Waiting until we get close to Him.

I often think about this too. God is a key-player of my life. I call him when I need him. I call him when I thank him. But in spite that, I could not avoid missing him whenever I have busy schedules ahead of me. That's why yesterday, I posted a discussion with regards if people in here still take time to pray. Because I do take time to pray when I was a child but now that I have fully grown up, my time with God has lessened. I have to find a way to bring Him back again with me. Or to bring myself back to Him.

Hi uniqueorn. God supposed to be the key-player in everybody life. But like you said, our schedules in life can be so hectic by the time all of them done, we feel so tired, we don't even get the chance to say to Him. I'm so glad that my kids always remind me everynight before they go to bed that we all should pray, give thank for the day that just pass, ask Him to give a peaceful night of sleep and ask for the blessing for the next day.

I would have to admit that there are times when everything is going right i am starting to forget Him. Maybe that's why i have lots of problems now. I will make it a mental note to keep in touch with Him in times of happiness and in times of trouble.

I believe that everyone let God sleep, some of them for a long time. But I think that's just what we are, we use and percept something that is advantageous to us. But I guess that's not so bad either..well at least God still always be there for us.

I don't think that is really the point of the story. In that case, the problem wasn't that it took so long for them to wake Jesus, but rather that they didn't trust Him in the first place. They thought that if they didn't wake Him, that they were going to perish. The truth is that He was there the whole time and He wasn't worried about the situation. Jesus as a man was sleeping, but God wasn't passed out, the Father still had things in control. God always wants us to seek Him, but in faith that He will take care of things. We aren't to freak out when He doesn't seem to be acting, because He has promised that He will take care of us.
