Even after doing the uninstall that comes with some programs and/or using the computer program removal methods, there are still traces of the program left behind. For instance a trial version of a program can tell if a there has been a trial version on the computer before. Do you use something like a register cleaner to get the last traces off or something else?

Regseeker may help. If you are under XP, download the last freeware version of Total Uninstall (2.35). It will remove completely every software installed... after it

I will clear the Program Files by manually removing any folder left behind, which often happens if there are a couple of read files or configuration files. As for the registry, I really dislike the idea of a Registry Cleaner and would never allow a third party program to amend the registry in any way.

I use ccleaner it's award winning free program that not only cleans registry but also things like cookies and stuff you save when you visit websites. If you never done it before it's quite possible you'll erase about 1giga of trash that fills and slows down your memory. Neat little program and a must have two so i hope you'll feel cleaner after using it Have a great day!

I use a registry cleaner. It finds paths that go nowhere, like the links to the program that is gone, and removes them.
