Black Hole Discovery!

Was just reading on UniverseToday that scientist have discovered that although black holes suck everything including light into them, for some reason they do not do the same for dark matter. Very strange news to me! The article goes on to say that it only makes sense for this to be, for if it were otherwise, galaxies would have long ago changed beyond the way are known to be because dark matter actually keeps them from slinging stars into the voids of intergalactic space. It just makes me think about how little we still know about the things that we take for granted everyday. Anybody else see this article? (be careful not to read too closely, for risk of falling in!)

Hey! What an astounding this is this Dark Matter! True, I have also read somewhere about dark matter, but I am not worried so much about it. Rather I am worried about the taxman- he sucks all my earnings like a Black Hole- if you dont mind!

Yeah, we'll just call the taxman the GREEN HOLE! I could also point out that he's also another type of hole, but I won't go there! Mmmm. . .if we could only put the green holes into the black hole we'd have a perfect system! Probably would explode the known universe though. On second thought, maybe we'd aught to just get our Congressmen to vote for a flat-tax :P

hell0! no, i haven't seen that article but have read a lot about the black holes, and know what they are- yes, they really suck everything around them, everything in a distance of thousands kilometers from them and it is really scary. and all the things that they suck, all the matter increases the size of the black hole. black holes are actually stars that have exploded and on their place came the black hole

Thanks Rallon for sharing it in a discussion but to tell the truth I do not understand Head or Tail of it. My hubby loves to watch all these documentaries on National Geography, Discovery Channel and would keep asking me to see it but I really do not like watching it. I know it is important but I believe that when I have so many things to worry about why should I worry about the BLACK HOLE.

Well I have not read this article yet. But I do have read some interesting matters about the black hole and the Universe. It is really amazing and like you said, there are so many things we still do not know. Considering the advancement in science and technology, new things are discovered from time to time. But still, I think many more are still unknown.
