Although what matters is good performance in office, but sometimes what decisive is the relationship with your boss, colleagues and your staff. How to maintain a good relationship with sorts of people? It depends and needs different skills, but it is all based on details.
Let's say some skills of working with your boss. Personally, I don't agree to be close with your boss too much because it may bring inevitable troubles and you may busy with chores. Just make the boss think of you when necessary. If you want to have a promotion, you may try to get touch more with your manager and impressive him your good performance as much as you can.
Do you dear have other tips to handle the relationship with boss, colleagues and your staff?

As to the relationship with boss, I think it depends on your boss' charactor and working style, whether he is open-minded or not, what is his opinion of promotion, which kind of management staff he likes. If he pays much attention to one's capability, then show him your capability naturally, meanwhile, do not displease your line manager.
For the relationship with your line manager, let him/her know you are aliable, he/she can trust you when something happens.
As to the relationship with colleagues, I think just be kind is OK.
