Do you keep a notebook of ideas? I am working on several projects. When I get an idea for another one I try to write it down in a notebook.I try to keep a single notebook with a lot of different ideas and notes. Do you keep such a notebook containing writing ideas?

If I get an idea I usually am on the computer so I open a notepad or sticky note and I type it there to work on later. Usually I don't end up working on the idea, or if I do I don't finish the story etc.

On the computer I end up with all these partial articles that I start with an idea.. so my folders are difficult to keep organized unless I keep and "unfinished thoughts" one. Then when I lapse I go back and read them. Many times I can develop them further. But I still keep a notebook to jot down ideas.

Oh well it seems like you've got a pretty good system going there for your articles. Writing them and if they're "unfinished" you basically keep them as drafts instead of trashing them, good idea!

My daughter and son-in-law have real small notebooks tucked away in a pocket or purse so they always have something with them too. I think it's a good idea, you never know what you might miss!

I have a notebook for writing ideas. I've only started this recently and I jot down topics I would like to write about in form articles.

Yeah, then later, when you read them many times they can be developed further.

Many years ago, I did keep a notebook of various things that I wanted to write. There were little notes, most of it that were just ideas that never really got past the idea stage. I came across my notes from years ago just recently come to think about it. Some of it I could understand, but a lot of it I could not make heads or tails of what I meant. Oh well, its kind of hard to keep track of a thought process from years ago.
These days, most of my notes are written out on the computer. I have several notepad files worth of several notes. I also have some Excel spreadsheets that are mapping out some things. Even an odd Powerpoint or two to really diagram some of my more complex ideas. Still, I pretty much an doing the computer equivalent to writing notes out in a notebook. So instead of a notebook of ideas, these days, I have a computer folder of ideas.

I keep quite a lot on the computer but I find it more difficult to keep organized. Plus what if I have an idea and the computer is off? The thought may not hang around long enough to get it all on and try to get to one of the programs!

Oh yes, I do. Like you, I am also working on several assignments. Oftentimes, ideas come to me out of nowhere. To avoid losing the ideas, I will record them on my PDA phone. It could be a phrase, a sentence, or a sketch. Once I get back to my home or office, I will elaborate on the ideas with mindmaps or handwritten notes.

Yeah, I heard one time that if you're stuck out somewhere with no pen and paper that you can call yourself like on your home phone and leave a voice mail with the note. This is really handy if you're writing a new song!

i agree with u mac....cause everybody has its different mind setup and today we all have our chaging minds ... so we have to keep the newly invented ideas of each spheres we interested in some place which are easy and ready to keep.... notebook is that thing where we can write our emotions of that particular moment

Yep, I like to "capture" the things like thoughts and emotions that need to be captured since I know I may not be able to get them back just like I thought them.

I have a notebook where I keep my ideas and the poems that I didn't finish yet. If I get a new idea I prefer to write them down straight away so that I don't forget them. Sometimes I take a look at the notebook and try to finish some of the things that I have started. When I get stuck I usually leave the poem or the story for a while, and sometimes I am able to finish it later when I get new inspiration. I have a big notebook at home and a small notebook in my bag in case I get an idea while I am away from my home.

In elementary school I had these idea notebooks where I would draw pictures and write a title (like a movie poster or a book cover) on the front sides of the sheets and then put the summary on the back. I've since locked these notebooks away, but I still write down my ideas in some notebooks. I don't really have a designated notebook but occasionally I'll gather all the stray ideas together and write them together in a list.

I keep one, since I do the same thing as you. I have several projects and whenever an idea strikes me, I make sure that I have that notebook handy (or at least some paper so I could copy it in my notebook later) so that I could write that idea down. It really helps you keep track of the things you want to do and things you could reflect on once you come across it and think about it again.
I for one actually abort some projects because they only sounded good on the exact moment I thought about it and it didn't seem like something I would want to spend my time on.
A notebook like that is really important for writers, so that's why I keep one. It's cool to know that I'm not the only one like that.
Have a nice day,

Personally for me, i just cant sit down and write about something. I have like a spur of the moment writing idea and i must write it down in order to capture it. I think your "notebook of ideas" is a great idea, and im thinking about using this idea :) Thanks!
