I had this problem with a laptop that I tried to upgrade the ram with. It would shut down. Make sure the ram is made for that computer. Make sure you go into my computer to change the settings for your ram now. With the computer I upgraded I couldn't upgrade to the Max it said I could. The computer would over heat then shut down. Then trying to restart it would shut down automatically. Have you tried taking out the added ram, run with the old and see if it is because of the ram upgrade. If so, it could be to much for the machine to handle, wrong ram chip, or not inserted correctly. If the problem persists after going back to original ram, could be a problem with your CPU Fan not working properly.

Oh one more thing, with some laptops, if your using more than one ram chip they have to be same size, in other words 2 at 1gb each, not one at 256mb and one at 1 gb. Some computers will not allow that.

check your power cable, may be there is the problem. If the pairing is not tight then your computer will often reset itself. The second possibility is that your memory is unstable and the crown is not compatible with the motherboard.

You increased your RAM? How did you do this? Did you physically plug something into the inside of your PC? If you did, were you wearing gloves? Static electricity can kill your computer. Literally kill it. You might have a virus. Try starting it in safe mode. There could also be a problem with the power supply. Does the fan run? If the fan does not run, the computer will quickly overheat. When that happens, it shuts itself off (at least it is supposed to) to prevent damage.

It seems highly possible that the RAM you just installed is causing the problem. To make sure, just take out that RAM and see if the computer still shuts down automatically or restarts itself.

could you be more specific describing exactly when it reboots? with two chips of memory? Also restarts with one? Is it always immediate or sometimes it starts loading windows? When asking for a solution it helps describing the problem properly. Also are you sure you put the chips in the correct memory slots? some motherboards only accept having slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4, or 1, or all slots populated. And the new memory is it exactly the same as the one you already had? I'm not talking about overall speed, i mean the memory timings like latency, trcd, trp, and tras. If these values dont match for both chips you might have to go to the bios and set values that both can accept.

Maybe you needed to reset the CMOS. If you don't know how, you can ask for computer technician coz it can be dangerous if someone without enough knowledge in troubleshooting will do that. I'm thinking the it's really the RAM that causes that. It may not be compatible to your pc. You can try to bring back the old one and try if it will still restart, if it still restarting then you really need to restart the CMOS. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

Well, ur system is affected by virus.. I honestly say that u have to reinstall the operating system if u have the license for one more reinstall with the operating system.. If your license has expired with the operating system, i have another solution, u can install an antivirus software program and scan the entire computer.. First install Malware bytes-Anti Malware and scan and delete all infected items, this most probably will solve the issue, toi be completely virus ree, Install Avast Antivirus program and do a complete hard drive scan and delete all infected files .. First Malware bytes-Antimalware followed by Avast Antivirus..

i think you must have installed some incompatible ram due to which your system is getting restarted. just remove the ram and check this out if it could work well. even after removing the ram if you are not able to start system then there must be a virus. then you may need to format the pc.

~ hi. it is some virus, but i don't think it is, or your CPU doesn't accept the RAM that you have put on your motherboard! ~

i think your pc is infected with the virus... you need to reinstall your windows... and then install a descent anti virus... to remove the viruses completely... i recommend first install an antivirus.... remove viruses and then the operating system... and an antivirus to protect your system for future... good luck

Maybe the new RAM is damaged or it's not compatible with your PC, try to remove it and see if the computer stops to shutting down...

some possible causes: faulty ram but you already stated that you removed it and the problem persists. Overheating not very likely because you say the pc shuts down as soon as you start it. virus is basically impossible for the same reason given above. my guess would be you left some component loose or maybe left a loose screw inside the case.
