Why is it so difficult to buy home remedies at the so-called chemists?
Ask for basic products like hydrogen peroxide, epsom salts, castor oil, etc and they say "there's no call for it". I think what that really means is that there isn't HUGE PROFIT in it.
I hate the taste of a lot of the strong mouthwashes, especially corsodyl which makes me heave, and my dentist told me to get some hydrogen peroxide to use as a mouthwash. The chemist said they don't stock it any more and tried to insist I bought a £5 bottle of mouthwash instead.
I eventually found the hydrogen peroxide from an on-line supplier but it makes me mad that effective and cheap treatments are becoming nearly impossible to get.

Here in Australia, it's fairly easy to find those products at the chemist as well as other home remedy products - some can even be found in the super market & are still popular here. I was amazed to read that you find it hard to get those things over in the UK.
Because they are easy to get here, I have even made a squidoo page on home remedies.
Good luck in finding them.

I use food grade hydrogen peroxide for cleaning fruit and vegetables and sometimes will use it on cuts and grazes and I find that it works very well. I cannot get it in my local chemist though, so I searched for food-grade hydrogen peroxide on line and quickly found several suppliers here in the UK. I ordered a bottle, but had to mix it down to 3 per cent. It was OK then. _Derek

I am sorry to hear that you cannot find these things hvedra. I do not even go into Chemists as I find they make me feel sick with the smell of the chemicals. They are not interested health I am afraid, just keeping the sickness industry going.
I have a fridge full of hydrogen peroxide as we sell it online through our store. I sometimes use it as a mouthwash at night after brushing my teeth and sometimes even brush my teeth with it. I use it to sterilise equipment that I use for packaging food products as well. It is great stuff on skin wounds also. Gotta love it!
We do not have castor oil, but we do have a big bucket of Epsom salts which we use for relaxing tired muscles in the bath. It certainly helps!

I am sure it's normal, but the thought of going and buying hydrogen peroxide to put in my mouth is just strange, probably because I used to use the concentrated stuff at work, one wiff and that stuff will burn the hairs out of your nose!
