Why do people ask your opinion and then yell at you for it?

I am a member of Facebook. I recently joined a group that I thought had a funny name. A friend of mine asked me why I joined the group. I gave my answer. This person then proceeded to "yell" at me for my reasons and basically told me I am a hypocrite. I am actually stunned. I wonder why he asked my opinion in the first place if the only thing he wanted to do was insult me? Doesn't that seem rather mean spirited?

People want to know your opinion but will yell at you because they disagree with you and since they don't have an argument to prove their claim they resort to yelling since they want to express their emotions.

Such things happen more often than you might think...
I'd say your friend was in a bad mood, or maybe jealous (I don't know if you need authentication to join a group cause I don't have Facebook)
But I'd say he shouldn't yell, cause you liked to join it, if he doesn't like it he shouldn't really care...
It seems that it is mean spirited, but maybe he already regrets the way he acted.

I would like to think he was just in a bad mood, but he has a tendency to do this to a lot of people. I wonder what it is in a person that makes them think they are ALWAYS right and that it is their way or no way at all. I would never treat anybody like that -- even if I disagreed with them. I always try to remain respectful.

maybe because of your answer as you said that the group have a funny name and its like an insult to the members and the owner, perhaps it might be funny to us but it has great meaning for them based on their language so instead of saying that then you supposed to say that you joined because you want to join and know the group more and not because its funny name.
