I learned html through the use of online tutorials and websites. I did a simple search of learning html codes and found some pretty good instructional sites in the results. This taught me the basics of html and from there I found sites to teach me the more complicated parts of html. I like being able to customize my websites and add fun designs and themes to my sites. It makes it much more appealing in my opinion if you have a website that uses html and is not just a basic website without variety and fun additions to it.

First I visited www.w3schools.com... But as time went by, I became bored reading long pages of texts and stopped. Then after a few months I have decided to take up a formal education on Web Design, that's where I have learned a lot. Aside from that, I watch Lynda.com's screencasts and trainings on HTML, CSS and other languages. I also visit sites like CSS-tricks.com which is pretty good. I learned a lot of CSS by using the software Topstyle, much like Dreamweaver but a lot better and easier (without lots of overwhelming buttons). I use Notepad ++ a lot, so I learn HTML by traditional hand coding than simply using Dreamweaver.

Through online tutorials and of course doing it. I didn't have a school to go to and plus finding the right material. It comes down to hands on experience. Since then, I've built some web sites but probably will be learning some new tricks in the future.

When I was around 9, I started making my own website through the earliest versions of Microsoft Frontpage. One time, our computer broke and we had to format it. By that time, there was a new version of MS Frontpage that I found less user-friendly than the older one. What I did was learned HTML by looking at some webpages and loading them on the new Frontpage. I looked at the HTML code and tried to observe it. I copied the code and tried experimenting with it until I learned what this and that does. I tried doing all that until I got used to HTML. It was pretty easy to learn HTML that time because there was no CSS yet and Java wasn't that widely used. It was plain basic HTML back then.
