My computer at home has been getting fake security warning of this and that kind of threats! Obviously it has been invaded by virus.Oh I don't know what my son did! And aside from that fake XP malaware scanning automatically starts every now and then. It is really annoying and disturbing and I know that later on it will give more harm to my computer. I've been surfing for solutions but those solutions and software found over the net did not help me. Will someone who had this same problem give me some help. How were you able to do this. Can I remove this manually without causing any damage to my computer. I found one manual solution and this requires editing the registry. Anyone of you who could help me please?

i know what you are talking about, it calls itself antivirus software and then it multiplies on your hard drive. Don't use adaware, but use spybot search and destroy, and if that doesn't work go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com

Hey don't worry we all have computer problems at one time or another. I am not a wizard with computer's but I did find a program that is cheap but great! I have not had any problem with it. And, the customer service is great too. If I had even a simple question they would help and even walk me through it step-bye-step. And, It helps with viruses and everything under the sun. (Windows Live One Care) I bought it at Wal-mart on sale for $25.00. That is tax included. But, it even tells me when my sons computer has a virus and cleans it and even if he needs up-dates. I can check on my husbands computer and my sons from my computer. You might want to try it. I would recommend this program to anyone. Good Luck!

Oh..they are very dangerous. They can send your files while that fake scanning..so just make a complete format..or just download Avast 5.It is a free anti virus program. One of the best anti virus.I too got affected by some viruses 2 weeks ago and after installing Avast my PC is clean now.The old Avast is bad..Now the new one is looking great..So just have a try..
Then don't download the set up in your PC.Because it is already affected. So if you download it then virus will transform to the new exe file.So just download from another computer and install in your computer.
Spybot S & D is great but you need to be installed along with an anti virus. Then only your PC will be safe...Avast is the best free ant virus ..so try it..or elso format it completely and install new...

Spybot Search and Destroy could detect them all but after fixing they just return immediately. Spybot has been quite useless this time. I am so disappointed with it. You are right I need an anti-virus. The other users recommended AVG but your recommendation is Avast. Hmmmm, I am now confused which one would really work best for me. Thanks anyway for your your kind concern.

That is the last solution but for sure there is a good solution other than reformatting my computer. I will try all means suggested by the respondents here. Thanks for sharing!

Try MalwareBytes, the free version is enough for cleaning stubborn viruses. Also check:

or

These two articles I wrote because I had the same problem a few months back. Hope it helps.

I had it before but when this Nod 32 has reached expiration it disabled my word and excel applications so I had to remove it from my computer immediately. It scared me because I thought that would be the end of my computer. It is a good thing that I realized it could be this nod 32 that caused all the troubles. I was right, as soon as I removed it, my computer was completely restored.

step 1:
make a backup of all the important files you have (burn them on cd, transfer them on an external hard drive or usb, ...)
step 2:
install 'malwarebytes anti malware' and run it.
step 3:
download 'ccleaner' and run the cleaners for registry and temporary internet files. (as this virus surely installed via internet connection)
step 4:
if it is't gone yet i suggest to format c and reinstall windows.

The virus have disabled all kinds of downloads in my computer so downloading any anti-malware is definitely not possible. I will perhaps just reformat to solve this problem once and for all. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it!

I recommend you to use Microsoft Security Essentials. No one better than the own Microsoft to know about the Windows security problems.
I use and it detects ever type of threatens without any problem, and the better, it's free.

Yes it is the best if one is using genuine Microsoft windows but sorry mine is not so it is not possible to avail of its benefits. I have to just reformat my computer. Thanks anyway for your input. Have a nice day!

You should format your computer and change your anti-virus to nod32 that way your computer will be safe with virus i know its hard to loose some of your files but it is necessary to change so that it will be a safe computer for u
