Movie Spoilers - Do You Want To Know or Don't Want To Know?

When there is a new movie coming out, previews and sneak peeks and trailers and a lot of other things will come out to promote the movie. Most people would be fine with these things, in fact welcome and enjoy it. But some despise these commercials and consider them as spoilers.
So which side are you on? Would you want to know as much information about a movie before watching it? Or would you risk your life to avoid any kind of spoiler for a movie you've never seen?

I don't think of commercials as spoilers as you want to see something of it before going to watch the real thing at the cinema. It's true that often they really do spoilers in those trailers, making you see something from the end of the movie, but as you still haven't seen it, you can't really know.

that is true. sometimes trailers do show things from the ending, but very quickly and out of sequence to make that shot not look like something too important.
i don't really mind that. but i do have a friend who despises trailers because when he starts to wonder what something is, he couldn't stop. and that would annoy him so much and make him look for the answers online.. and often he would end up reading a massive spoiler
that dude should seriously take trailers a lot less seriously :P

I like to see the trailers and previews of a movie before I watch it so I have some idea what it's about. What I don't like and what I would consider to be a "spoiler" is to know the end of a movie before I see it. However, I don't think I've ever seen a preview that gives the end away!
One thing I'll bet everyone has noticed is that for some movies all of the "good" parts are in the trailer so when you actually see the whole movie it's not nearly as good as you may have expected! This doesn't happen all that often but it does now and then!

lol i doubt there are previews that give away the end just like that :P.
and i can't agree with you more. those movies that have very little interesting visuals that the trailers have already shown everything. and whats worse is they managed to make it look like a good movie too!

Trailers, promos, sneak previews and reviews all have a major part to play in attracting people to watch a film they may have never considered watching. A prime example is a few years back I caught the trailer of "Night at the Museum" and desperately wanted to see it, but if I hadn't seen the trailer I would have passed on the movie, which turned out to be great fun.
So for me I love movie trailers, they allow me to work out whether a movie will appeal to me which I may not have ever looked at.

I don't mind hearing the ending of the story. In fact, I go out of my way to read up on the movie before watching it to see if its not a waste of time, or whether I should just watch it in DVD or big screen. What I do hate are people who go to the movies and comment loudly on the movie.

I do like the trailers but only if they tell just a little or show just small parts of the movie. That way you know there's something new and interesting but you don't know the full story. But in general i hate spoilers because that way movie loses the surprise factor. I hate watching a movie with someone who already saw it and tells you what happens next.

It depends. If it's a movie I'm really interested in, then no, I really would prefer not to be spoiled. If it's a movie I don't really care about, then I don't really care. I've looked up the entire plots for new movies I didn't plan on seeing, just so I'd know more about what other people were talking about.

lol that is exactly what i do too. i wouldn't want to feel left out when my friends are talking about some movie i dont know of :P.
but if it is a movie i really want to see, i would only see bit of it. no main plot things. except for remakes.. i would want to watch the trailer and get an idea how it looks. i think remakes tend to be.. overestimated
