Philippines

I'm about to buy a volkswagen and people keep telling me not to. I've thought about it a lot and scrapped it from my mind several times but it seems like the bug fever can't be helped. I intend to buy a volkswagen 1979 or older and convert it into a cal look bug (it may or may not be a convertible, we'll just have to see how my budget's gonna hold up) Any of you guys know anyone selling a base car for me to work on? oh yeah... only in the philippines :D And then I'm gonna join the volkswagen club as soon as it's perfect

I guess you have to check what your budget is before starting on this project. I don't know what the prices are in Philippines but check whether it is worth it working on an old model, if you can find spare parts for your model.

How hard is it to get parts? Were there a lot of bugs around in the 70's? Rebuilding a bug would be a great hobby. The engine is small enough that 2 strong men can lift the whole thing out. If I had better health, I would love to do it. I wouldn't recommend a bug as a main car. They are dangerous due to the engine being in back. If you crash there is nothing between you and whatever you hit.

yeah,i totally agree with your idea about the Volkswagen. I am not a German, but chinese, because i have been working in the service department of company named "Volkswagen Beijing Center",that i found the VW vehicle is very good in all performances. You want to buy a second-hand beetle or a new? here in our country the beetle about 400,000 RMB. Sorry to tell you i am not in Philippines and just to give you some info and make a friend. :)
