If you would have the choice what would you choose to be: mixed race (any) or just "pure bred"? Me, myself, I am quite a mix as is my daughter (even more than me). My mum is german and my biological father is half kazakh, half tatar ( a turknic ethnic folk). My daughter's father is chinese... so you see we such a mix. But to be honest sometimes I wish to belong to one nation only as I think it gives you the feeling to belong somewhere whereas with me and many other mixed raced people it is difficult to tell...
Of course there are many advantages you enjoy as a mixed race and I wouldn't want to change anything with my race as it is my identity but I have the feeling people don't accept you 100% from either country as they see or feel you are different...thats maybe why I feel so comfortable in the UK :)
I sometimes wonder whom my daughter will marry and what a mixture her children will be...
whats your opinion? what would you like to be?

I think it will be wonderful when these differentiations no longer exist, and we all accept everyone as a fellow human!

Hi asja1388,
Living in America, we are all mixed. My family background is Irish and Cherokee Indian, but when I looked up the coat of arms for our name, it was Scottish. People that don't accept you aren't worth your time of day. Ignorance/predujicism comes in all colors and ethnicities and from all countries. You could come to America and join the melting pot so to speak. Almost all of us came from somewhere else. I lived in Germany for 2 years when I was 17. I understand your concerns there. There are people here that show prejudice, but they are really a small segment of the population. I think feeling like you belong somewhere is really about getting to know others in your community and starting to feel like you belong there. You never know who your daughter might marry, and if she will marry, or where they will be from.

I am a pure bred Filipino. I think it would be interesting to be of mixed race because I would get to enjoy different cultures while others enjoy only one. But as you mentioned, being pure bred gives a feeling of belonging somewhere and a sense of identity too.

I'm a pure Filipino but sometimes I wish I'm half Filipino and half Chinese/Korean/Spanish. I don't know what's with these three but I'm somewhat interested in their cultures. I think it's gonna be fun if I'm a mixed race. In that way, I can enjoy and learn different traditions as well. My grandma is half Filipino and half Chinese. I think I'm the only one in the family who doesn't have chinky eyes. Haha. ^O^
