but now i cant as there are number of softwares installed and it is not possible for me to format pc multiple times. what about you. what is your frequency to format your pc.

i try not to format it. formatting the disk quite often slows it down. you should avoid it unless you have to do it

I have only formatted my drive only once and only during it's first install. I don't need to format my drive that often because I have my pc installed with Deep Freeze so I don't really bothers a virus comes to my pc because it doesn't stay anyway since it will be remove automatically. Because Deep Freeze will just revert back where it was freezed. And if I want to install something on it I just unfreeze it and install new software and I make sure i'm not connected to internet or my source installation files is clean and after that I just freeze it again. So my PC is always on top shape all the time except if there is hardware failure in which doesn't happen often.

When I had my vista laptop, I ended up reformatting it after only 2 months as I ran into problems with it. Once I reformatted, it worked fine. Now that I have a Windows 7 computer, I am nto having any problems whatsoever. I think it is the best operating system that microsoft has ever come up with. Vista, was nothing but problems, and xp, well, I didn't really have to many problems, but it still isn't as good as windows 7. My desktop has xp on it and since I don't use it for surfing and doing the sites I am a member of then, I will just leave it alone and not reformat it or do anything else like upgrading. I am certainly glad that I purchased this laptop, as it runs very smoothly, and it seems to run faster than any of the other operating systems I have used. Take care, and have a very good day.

Last time i formatted my pc was over a year and a half ago and because it was a new machine.
i'm still using vista (dont have the patience to switch to 7) and its a very good os though a bit heavy.
Before that on my other machine i am using xp and the last time i formatted it was 5/6 years ago.
You probably could just have deleted the infected files instead of formatting the hdd. I also have my doubts that no antivirus could have resolved the problem.
