Do we need a censored internet?

yes we need it. for first for the children. they need to be protected from everything dirty, wrong. and 95% of the internet is garbage.

hi! well, I think that it must be really censored, because nowadays there are so many kids that go online and there are many things that must be censored thatare actually not for small kids!

I think various materials should be censored even from Adults. There are how many Adults out there that get in trouble for viewing and uploading questionable material or questionable instructions. I don't feel those things should be uploaded period or information shared. I know we have the freedom of information and speech wich I"m not saying is something we should censor itself but if things are illegal or encourage illegal activity then it should be filtered. Though there's a differance with China not giving people knowledge vs things that are offensive, illegal ect...

I think that censoring the internet is giving a step back in history and human rights. We all should have the right to look up information and choose freely what do we think or not, so censoring should be prohibited everywhere. I can never understand why is the government so afraid of the population.

I really do not think it is practical because of its vastness and it would take a lot of censoring since this will make things get worse. I truly believe that self censoring is a much better alternative.

NOOOO....internet was not created to be censored by governments and big powers in our society!!Unluckly there are dictatorship as china that they want control all even human life so why not internet?so they did and do it but for their interests and power not for our security this is a shame in the 2000....

I think that there should be a censorship that removes all disturbing content, like gross videos with execution scenes or forbidden adult videos and so on. But I am totally against censorship that filters the news around the Internet, because in some countries government wants to hide the truth from the people and the only way to get true news is uncensored Internet.

I am actually torn in this issue. I don't want governments controlling people's access to information, but at the same time I want people to be protected from Internet predators. I think the best thing to do for now is to educate people about the dangers of the Internet. Governments should focus on informing people about the dangers of the Internet instead of trying to censor it. Ethics should also be a concern, especially with kids learning wrong things on the Internet. Parents should be the ones to control the Internet usage of their kids. They should block sites that they think are inappropriate for their children. They should also teach their children not to believe everything they read on the Internet and inform their kids of the dangers.

Yes it should be and people especially parents need to know who and what their kids are doing on the internet. How many times have we seen on the news teen age girls talking to grown men who pretend they are a teenage boy. Then they meet them somewhere and get killed. We also had the story of The Craig's list killer who met people on Craig's list and ended up killing them. People need to be protected and we have to keep the internet as safe as possible. It is already a little scary how easy some people can get all of this info about you and use it for their gain.

There is only so much "protecting" we can do. At times a little cencorship is required, but in a much more controled enveronment. But, the internet is not that place. Quite frankly, what would the point be actually to cencor the internet? Just like you can't protect your kids when they are not in your site, the internet is the same concept. So, no I don't think it would be right to try and sensor the internet.

'the internet is for pron' (intentional typo) censorship is a way to control what people see and watch. think of it like how parents feel wrong if their kids watch xrated movies. or if any children is allowed to. because it is not appropriate for them. having said that, we are not babies (at least not all of us are). i think there should be a balance what should and should not be censored. and how it works is what makes the censorship a good or bad thing. if the governing body controlling the censorship board is an over-protective, then the whole thing will be a failure

No way! Censored internet is the worst thing ever. Internet is a free way for the people to express they opinion and censor this is just ridiculous.
