homeopaths

Homeopathy has been demonstrated to be nothing more than placebo. Hundreds of clinical trials and meta-analysis and recently in uk a science commission have concluded this. How do you look at homeopaths? Frauds for pushing products and their services for something for which they had no proof of efficiency? Naive for believing in something so far fetched?

I believe that homeopathy is a good thing. I have found remedies that do work, and even if it is only down to the placebo effect, the fact that people are getting well and feeling better only has to be a good thing does it not?

the thing is anything can produce the placebo effect. It doesnt even need to be a product. The simple act of going to the doctor can produce the placebo effect. If i sold something like gum and told you that it cures colds, and you would get better (eventually), would you consider that a good thing? And between something that only has an effect due to the placebo effect and something else that has a proven therapeutic effect which do you prefer?

Hi, You cannot write Homeopathy off. It is an Alternative medicinal branch and does not show any benefits in case of acute diseases and infections. But can surely help in treating chronic diseases in long run. And i dont think it is only placebo effect. Ok i agree that the potency is very low, and you will have to continue the treatment for long time. But some remedies have worked for my father like the ointment for piles, and that cant be placebo!

It should be borne in mind that results can, and have been done in the past, to be falsified in order to support the arguments of a particular group. The claim that homoeopathy does not work has been around some time after it began to gain ground. If homoeopathy is widely accepted certain companies will see their income drop. Clinical tests carried out by those who are bot well vesed biased can give the wrong results. Homoeopathic remedies are given based on the symptoms, not the illness. Because of this two people suffering from fever may need different remedies. Giving the same remedy because it had been used before may result in one or both of them not getting ant better. If homoeopathy is based on the placebo effect then (1) how did the animals knew what was given to them? (2) how do babies understand that the thing given to them would and make them better? (3) how does the use of Calendula ointment heals external wounds without leaving any scars? (4) how does the use of Apis Mell eases sting bites faster than by using allopathic medicine, and leaves no side effect? (5) how does the use of Belladona makes it easier for pregnant women to give birth? Homoeopaty is a soft approach based on traditional medicine. Allopathy takes the extract, thus producing side effects. What smears the name of homoeopathy are the charlatans, and those who claim to be highly knowledgable in it while in reality they know only part of it.

To dismiss homeopathic medicine as mere placebo would surely be baseless , irresponsible and maybe even dangerous,I'm a guy with a medical background but I always keep an open mind. For one Indian Vedic and Chinese medicine is ahead of the west for thousands and thousands of years when it comes to research and practice and these are where most homeopathic cures are based. Medicine is like a body that that has many parts, with the west i must admit has an edge when it comes to antibiotics, immunization etc where quick remedy is a must. The east however practices keeping the body strong even before an onset. Most western medicine are also based if not has components from plants that has long been known in the East. The west just practiced Physical Theraphy, but where do you presume they got all those techniques? Western medicine has long been thought of as expensive and would do anything to protect interests of large pharmaceuticals where most western countries are dependent upon, so keep an open mind friend and please do not dismiss centuries of knowledge with the word "placebo" or placebo effect.
