I did a few of my own ear piercings and so many people were shocked! They all said that its supose to be dangerous with all the blood and stuff and tht sounded pretty stupid to me. I want to do one more but I figuered I should ask, is it dangerous? Could I relly hurt myself? Or die? (as some of the ridikulous people were saying).

hello there. I don't beleive someone could die piercing themselves, lol that is ridiculous. I mean someone could die from infections but not from piercing. I know a number of people who does it all the time and it all went OK. I say you just have to make sure the needle is clean and the area is clean as well. Good luck and have a great day.

yeah the only way i could see someone dieing from a piercing is if they transmitted HIV or such from a needle. Or possibly one wiked infection. People need to learn to take care of the holes theve put in their bodies

I believe it is only dangerous if you don't disinfect the equipment that you're going to use. Some people use only plain needle to pierce their ears and even share it with other people without disinfecting the equipment. Also, one must check if he/she isn't allergic to some jewelries, if so he/she must use the hypoallergenic ones.

yes it is dangerous if the equipment and tools are not clean and bacteria free. i think it must be done by a professional only not by a general person. in my view this is good to be looked better but in most of the cases it is also a general task and you should not worry alot.

Hmmm... I just responded to your other question about sterilization. Pierced my own ears by pushing the earring through. I didn't bother with a needle. And guess what? My ears haven't fallen off yet! What 'blood and stuff'? Sounds like whoever said that might be a little squeamish.

I have heard of many people who could pierce their ears themselves. But in my opinion they are pretty brave.I have never heard of any serious problems with that but still I am quiet scared whenever I see a needle. At the age of eight,I pierced my ear. But it was done by a surgeon.I think,I was lucky to have the needle properly sterilized..Some blood really poured out but it was also properly cleaned so that I don't have any infections. I hope everything is fine with you. You should not listen to what others say but you better be a bit careful with the needles.

If the area and needle is properly sterilized, i don't see a problem with piercing your own ear, as long as you're brave enough to. I think piercing the lobe by yourself is safer than piercing the cartilage by yourself. the cartilage is more sensitive and can scar and get infected easier.

I have heard of a lot of people who pierce their ears themselves. I have never heard of any really serious problems. I actually don't think there's much blood running through you ears so i don't think it's likely that you'll bleed a whole lot. The only problem that i can think of that would happen is that your ear could become infected at the spot you pierced. As long as you keep the area clean, and use a sterilized needle when you pierce your ear, i would assume that everything should be fine.
