A few years back we would get comedies like airplane, hot shots, naked gun... Now all (almost) we get are these boring, repetitive romantic comedies. What happened?

I haven't even noticed that comedies have been missing, maybe because I'm a sucker for the romantic comedies. My guess is the studios/producers think that there's no money in comedies, so they're not making them.

Oh I know how you feel, I've been wondering myself. It seems that the best comedies are from the yesteryears and the comedies of today are just flops and poor attempts to make us laugh. Perhaps it's because of CGIs, I think people appreciate visual effects more than good storylines, plus whatever has most impact on people sells. So perhaps too few producers would like to risk making comedies. It's sad really, I usually find myself looking for old comedies and watch and re-watch them over and over again. Still, they make me laugh.
