Some think 4 while others think 6 is the best age. I have a son who is 4 years old. When should we start teaching him music? By music- I mean piano or vocal singing. What do you all think? When did you all put your kids for music classes?

5 is the best age because we checked it out just a few weeks ago as we would like to send our daughter for lessons at the right time. We wish to teach her the violin.

A.R. REHEMAN the great musician started from 4 ...so i think that there is no problem starting from 4 years....it all depends on the learning ability and the interest of the child...if he has the liking he may start learning right now..

I guess it would be ok to have him undergo lessons when he reaches 5 years...

I think age 4 to 5 is the best time to learn music for kids. Many kids are able to remember and sing many nursery songs by the age of 4. In fact, I am thinking of letting my 6-year-old daughter to learn to play the piano. I have not heard of any kids at her age who quit piano lessons because it is too hard for them.

Some experts say that its wise to start exposing your kids to music even if they are still babies . I heard in one tv talk show that babies who are exposed to music while young grows up to be really talented and intelligent too. Havent tried it but i think it wont hurt to try for as long as you wont be playing hard rock music near your baby ;)

I had music playing in the house all the time so my son was exposed to music even before he was born. By the time he was 4 he was a budding drummer and when he turned five years old he was given a little keyboard which he took to instantly. Because he was so keen, we arranged for him to have lessons and he loved it.
